I purchased a 4oz jar of HUMI-CARE CRYSTALS from CBID and don't know what to do with them. Do I add water? How much? Can someone help me out here. Thanks a million.

Add small amount of water. Crystals absorb water and expand. They will absorb and release moisture keeping a 70% RH for one to two months, then just do it again for up to one year.

Thanks Scott. I add enough water to expand them without having excess.

That would be the way to do it.

Haven't tried'um but have been curious about them. Keep us posted on how it works out. Looks like they would require pretty simply maintenance............

I have one in one my my Humies and it works great. RH stays between 65 and 70 all the time. Its been just about a month and so far I have not had to add any water (distilled of course). I believe when the crystals shrink its time to add more water.

I...LIKE IT.

You can buy these same crystals at most gardening centers for a fraction of the cost you have been paying. About $3.00 for enough to fill a gallon container. They are used to hold moisture in plant soil and for flower arrangements.

Hey,

I believe Richard is right,

But when you initially charge, the garden variety, you must use PG solution, but with the HumiCare and Clmaxx beads, that has already been done. I am thinking???? Am I wrong???

In the Nursery buisness, I have seen the refered to as water savers. They are a Polymer crystal, added to soil, especially in low rainfall areas.

I added water, then more water and the crystals swelled to fill the jar. They've been holding my humidity between 70-72 degrees. The best part is that I don't have to worry about anything.

cayman,

The crystals I have are called Agrosoke. Homebrew is right, you have to initially charge with PG 50/50 to keep it around 70%. E-mail me with your snailer if you want some, free of course. My handle at hotmail.com
