I have sent a few of these out in trades and didn't realize what a fantastic cigar it is.

Last night, I couldn't sleep, so I got myself a couple of fingers of Talisker and a Red Velvet.

The wrapper is a gorgeous dark toothy wrapper with lots of nice oils. It is 7 x 48. The cap is a bit rough. The wrapper seems to be thicker than others. It just screamed, "Smoke me!"

I toasted the end, and it took a bit to get it lit. The draw was absolutely perfect. It provide a nice ash, just a bit flaky, but it held for almost two inches. The flavor was a bit on the mild side, but it was very tasty. It was like a weak creamy coffee that a kid would drink. It burned even throughout and I had to relight it once when I went to go refill my drink.

I don't know the status of this cigar, but it is not as cheap as the other LVHs.

I highly recommend it. The feel of the cigar was fantastic even if the flavor was a bit "light" for me.

Definitely not as impressed as you were with these. The prices are coming down drastically as I think folks are comparing them against the original LVH's.

In case you did not know, the originals are a short filler cigar. The Early Years are a long filler.

yes, I did know, and most Drew Estates fans also know

Have you tried the Red Velvet? It is not nearly the same as the other LVH Early Years sticks.

I got scared off when everyone said they were nasty, I might have to re-think trying one of these.

They want too much $ for them they have to be 10x as good as the other one they put out. NOTE TO SELF, IT WOULD BE NICE IF A NICE BOX MENT A NICE CIGAR!

Agreed that they are not worth what they are currently asking. Prices are dropping however.

RK, didn't know there were that many Drew Estates fans out there. And you would be surprised how many do not realize that the LVH is a short filler.

Dunno...........I've tried the LVH EY and didn't like them nearly as much as the regular, garden variety, LVH (haven't tried the Red Velvet). Maybe I didn't let them age enough, or maybe I just got a "bad" batch. Or maybe my expectations were just too high (I would typically expect a better smoke from a long filler cigar than I would a sandwich cigar, particularly from the same maker). May give them one more try....................

I just recieved 2 of them from RussKaufmann, and they look good. The wrapper looks like a darker Indian Tabac maduro...and I am excited to fire one up up, and age the other one.
