Since we're going to be down in Pa. for the herf, where can we get a true, good Philly Cheese Steak.

I can tell you where to get the best seafoods in Boston.

When I was in Philly they had them on every street corner practically.

Tip-if you are in Philly don't ask for a Philly cheese steadk. They're just cheese steaks.

That's not just Philly either - You'll sound like a tourist!! 🙂

Cheesesteaks are like pizza - everyone has a favorite place and no one makes it better than their place. Another local delicacy is Tasty Kake - Butterscotch Krimpets or Peanut Butter Kandykakes. Or try Shoofly pie...wetbottom, of course. And to wash it all down try an A-Treat soda.

See?? There's more to love than cigars!! 🙂

There's only one place to go for cheesesteaks...and that's 9th and Passyunk. Go to Geno's or Pat's. Personally, I prefer Geno's...but I've been known to get one from Geno's...walk across the street...get one from Pat's...and repeat.

Oh...and just so you know, it's not a cheesesteak unless you get the fake cheese out of a can cheese. So, when you're next in line just say:

'Wiz With' if you want onions or just 'Wiz' if you don't.

Oh, and you might as well get 2 while you're at it...it'll save you time 🙂

Gosh, I could talk about Geno's Steaks for hours...

Lot's of places have great cheesesteaks, even outside Philly. I prefer Geno's over Pat's but my favorite is from a local place right here in Jersey.

I'm not a "wiz" fan, but the fried onions are a must.

As A "Native" Philadelphian, Tourists and the late night crowd after the Bars close go to Pat's and Geno's....But the "Locals" go to places like D'Alesandros's in the Roxborough section of Phila. on Henry Ave. What makes a Philly Cheesesteak? My vote is the rolls, that turn out that way from the bad Philly water.....that's why you can't get 'em elsewhere....

Oh no myself and SeaCoast are in trouble. All that great food plus cheese steaks! I'm 6'3" and 315lbs, SeaCoast is 6'1" and 340. Just look for a couple of fat guys from Boston. We better take a before and after picture of us, we'll probably gain 100lbs. while there.

Can't wait. Thanks for the info, see you all there!

3 MORE DAYS!!!!

BOSTON has the best cheesesteaks (we just called 'em "belly bombs" up there) -- lots of thin-sliced beef on a GRINDER (not a roll) with PROVOLONE cheese and green peppers and fried onions. drink it down with a "six-uh-sammy" from the "packie" or if you're still on duty, just a "tonic" (not soda, not pop -- TONIC).

SteveS: as far as seafood goes -- try Naked Fish in quincy or on north street, or better yet, go to the Legal Seafood on boylston at the Pru. they're chains, yeah, but damned good. the guy who started bertucci's pizza also started the naked fish places (they have a kind of latin tilt to the fish there).

otherwise, check out:

East Coast Grill (in cambridge, inman square)

Max's Deli (downtown) for the BEST lobster bisque ever

Rialto (at the charles hotel) - just GO there.

Union Oyster House (after you do the freedom trail)

The situation is this-do you like Cheese wiz cheese or real cheese? If cheese wiz go to 9th and Pass. If real cheese you want a manyunk style. I do agree on several other parts-the rolls are what makes our hoagies and cheese steaks as well as you gotta get a tastykake pie (or cupcake or krimpet) and wash it down with a local brew.
