5- fer $29.95 is an aweful good price, but not having these before, I would be afraid that the aweful good price would bring me awful cigars?

So, anyone tried these?

I used to smoke these back when they first came out. I remember I liked them alot but my tastes have changed considerably since then....must of been atleast 8 or 9 years back. They are very smooth and mild.

When I first came to CBid in Nov. of last year......V Centennial was one of my first purchases. I got 2 5-packs of the maduro torpedo, and still have 2 or 3 of them. They age very nicely, for the cello is a light brown on the 3 remaining, and the one I smoked a week ago.......was gooooooood for the price.

Very even burn, good mild and sweet flavors, no bitterness.....and very nubbable.

Highly recommended for the price and for handouts.

I'm still 3/4 asleep. Meant to say I second smelly. Mostly wanted to say last week I pulled up a maduro I'd had aging, and was very pleasantly surprised at how it smoked. Dug back in, found 3 or 4 more and enjoyed them as well

Re: V Centennial

New production V Centennial is a totally different cigar than what was formerly available. V Centennial was formerly made in Honduras either at Pedro Martin's own factory, or under Sr. Martin's supervision at a contract source. Current production, while a product of Tabacalera Tropical, is Nicaraguan. Pedro Martin is said to be the blender of these cigars, but it's questionable as to how much input he currently has. Sr. Martin no longer owns the Tabacalera Tropical name. The CEO of Tropical is Roger Duarte and it's my understanding that José 'Pepin' Garcia is doing the blending.

I won a wheel of these last week before they announced the special. They arrived yesterday and I smoked one last night. Overall construction looked good. My SAK scissors made a nice clean cut. Pre-light draw was OK. It required pretty constant attention to stay lit. It seemed to be a bit over humidified. Because of the constant drawing to keep lit, it burned kinda hot, and there was plenty of rich smoke. It burned evenly down to the last inch.

As far as taste goes, I seldom detect any of the subtle flavors that some of you experience. Even though it burned a bit hot, it didn't start to get bitter until I passed the halfway point. These are a bit more flavorful than the regular V Centennial natural line and are probably comparable to the V Cent maduros. I'm looking forward to aclimating them and trying another. Definitely worth the $$.

These were one of my first C-Bid purchases too, mostly because of the price. Bought the Nats, liked them but a little mild so I tried the maduros. Now I'm stuck on 'em. The Churchill maddie became my Thursday night smoke during Survivor. (I probably shouldn't admit that I watch that but what the hell). Also you can give a friend one and not think your giving them a dog rocket. For the price, I think they're a real bargain. Just my 2 cents.

The very best V smoke is their V Centennial 500. Out of production, very smooth, much like a Diamond Crown. I've had a few aging in my large 500 gar humi for about 3 years and they just keep getting better.
