I've been storing several boxes of smokes in my coolerador and am wondering if the boxes should be left open, the lid slightly ajar, to assure that the cigars are properly humidified. If the boxes are cedar will they "breathe" and allow the cigars to age when closed?

Unvarnished Spanish Cedar will allow aging, but if your coolerdor is kept at optimum temp and RH, then you should keep the lid open. I've recently drilled Many holes in the top and bottom of several boxes in my coolerdor, and I use cedar spacers between boxes. Works great. The boxes which remain on the top have no lid.

My wife already thinks I'm nuts especially about cigars. If I head back to my humidors with a power tool she'll think I've finally gone over the edge. Thanks for the info but I think I'll wait till she's gone out or there'll be commitment papers in my future.
