I am heading for a 2 week vacation, in July, to the Paradise Island, Bahamas and staying at Atlantis. Anyone been there and have any recommendations on whether buying sticks there or bringing your own is better? Any thoughts on places to see (cigar shops?) of things to do are appreciated...

Cheers

I can't tell you anything about Paradise Island, but 2 years ago we went to Freeport, Bahamas (Our Lucaya) and there wasn't a cigar to be had except in the resort cigar bar for mega markup.

You might want to investigate where the Graycliff Hotel is down there.

take... travel = 3x markup if you find one. Even in chicago last week in hotel "cigar bar" i saw the gar i was smoking in the display for 3x what you would pay in a shop local.

Contact Lowman. He is a stand-up BOTL and I have seen a picture of him at Atlantis. He was shaking hands with the master roller and creator of Graycliff cigars.

I would bring my own cigars......but bring enough money to buy a cigar that looks good to remember your trip by.

I was there about 6 or 7 years ago... before I was really into cigars. I remember there being a strip mall to the left of the bridge as you were heading away from Atlantis. I think I paid about $15 for a RyJ churchill... Also store in Atlantis BIG $$$$$...

Best to bring your own...

Always bring your own, wherever you travel ...

... if you get lucky and find any good deals, or 'rare' cigars ... all the better.

Expect to ALWAYS pay 'way more' at any resort ...

Take your own. You'll still need to bring plenty of cash for Paradise Island!

Take your own but as someone also said set aside enough money to by atleast one stick.

I just came back from Canada and brought all my own and the bought one there. I was sweating though bringing my unsmoked ISOMs back through customs.

Greg, they were even more expensive when I was there. I was thankful to have brought my own....the extra funds allowed me to buy that Versace pillow I've yet to find a purpose for.
