What do I mix with Climaxx beads to make them work? I thought it was distilled water.

It is distilled water.

What's wrong, humidity to high???? Dry the beads with a hairdryer. Too Low, add a little more distilled water. I had over humidified my new humi, and had to take the beads out, as they could not absorb the extra Moisture, as soon as the humidity dropped below 60%, put them back in an humidity leveled out at 64%

Also check the seals on whatever you're using to hold the smokes. It also takes a while for them to start working. So don't expect miracles overnight...

remove the string or cord that holds them together and ..... oh wait ~ wrong things.

Nevermind!

I totally agree with the above advice. I've switched over to using this media in all of my five humidors and they all hold right around 65%, give or take.

You might need more media for the size humidor you're using. Go easy on the water at first, it takes very little to get these things going. Your cigars might be really dry to start with too, who knows. Try adding some more media and watch it slowly to see if the RH goes up (give it a few days).

Hope this helps.

Patience

They will work wonders if you put a moderate amount of water on them(just enough to make them clear), have a decently tight seal on your humi, and don't open it all the time to check the humidity(if you are). I buy the 70% ones, because I can use less....and I do so many trades that I open my humi's frequently. All of my humi's keep 67% all the time.

Thanks guys for all of the input. I'll give it more time and check my seal on the humi. My brother in law built it out of antique cypress with a spanish cedar interior. It might not be the best seal. Any tips on what to use to make a better seal and can the cedar have dried out???

Are you sure your hygrometer is accurate?

No one has asked, and you didn't say, if you're having the problem in a new humidor; if so, the wood needs seasoning/rehydrating before it will stabilize where it should.

Another thing that helps, really helps with high humidity is a dehumidifier! Like a room dehumidifier? I have a Hampton Bay. It lowers the humidity in the whole house. Which by default lowers the humidity in the humi.

Isn't that a little off topic, Rob?
