OK folks, I can't stand it any longer. I have been reading the boards for several months and enjoy them immensely. With the birth of our first child, Lyndsay Joy, (as an Okie I was taught to always include the middle name) spare time has been rare and I wanted my first post to seem halfway intelligent. But since time is still rare I will just blurt out a post and hopefully it will make some sense:)

A little about myself. I am 33, married a little over a year and a new dad. I am a newbie to cbid but have been smoking since '93. Like a fool I have been purchasing from my local guy all these years, but I have seen the light!! I am an amatuer woodworker and have recently been forced to spend more time in the wood shop so I can make more pieces, so I can sell some of 'em, so I can buy more cigars, so I can smoke more cigars, so I can spend more time in the woodshop, so I can make more pieces, so.....you get the picture.

I mail from the great state of Oklahoma and *darned* (for Trish) proud of it!! Let me just say it is a little intimidating to be among such a great bunch of BOTLs and SOTLs who have such a collective knowledge of gars and the like, not to mention such quick wit, I will try to keep up or just stay out of the way.

In closing, "as a newbie I do solemnly swear to TRY to avoid topics such as overbidding, cooleridor questions, general requests of what to buy and cello discussions. And I will bid low and trade high." Thanks to all for letting me be a part of it!

Let me be the first to say welcome.

Do you make humidors? Hit the trades board it has really gotten slow over there again. Especially since the Ninja went away.

Goody glad to have you aboard. But you already made a mistake by posting this.

"In closing, as a newbie I do solemnly swear to TRY to avoid topics such as overbidding, cooleridor questions, general requests of what to buy and cello discussions. And I will bid low and trade high."

There is a whole bunch of FOGs that will hold you to that! First lesson never put it in writting. LOL.

Welcome. Try to stay humble. Rick would be a good example of that.

Welcome, and congrats on fatherhood!!

I have recently developed an urge to work with wood also (umm, that does sound kinda strange). . . .

. . . must be something that just happens to men. . . Have you got any advice for books for starters???? I used to build speaker boxes about 15 years ago, but don't really have any experience, or idea on how to start. . .

Goody,

First: Congratulations.

Second: Welcome neighbor. I live in Kansas, about 50 miles north of Ok. border in the southeast part. I work for a division of a large food service company with a warehouse in OKC.
