the other day,
i went thru the Encylopaedia by Minn Ron Nee
it had pages and pages of pics of Bolivar cigars.
the color on the cigars were all different.
some were light brown, some were dark brown, and
some were reddish in color.
i dont know if that was from different years, a different factory, or just the guy that was running the printer that day.
but from what i've seen, the color under the band does not matter that much. imho.

I love those H Upmann's and the Bolivar's are awesome.

Don't sweat the bands on the Bolivar, I have seen different versions that were all authentic.

Gents,

Yes, I have "researched" the Boli bands issue and they are authentic. The bands can be "brown with a slight redish tinge". I have smoked one ot the Hoyas and one of the Boli's. Both were incredible. The the ash color was also the "typical" very dark color compared to the nics and doms I normally like and they also had the telltale pungent ISOM aroma of the unlighted stick.

Cheers

I have yet to get any habana bolis with the reddish color...and i know i smoke authentics. All of the '03 and '04s i have seen are more brown. But my experience with bolivar is limited to those two years. Like hdking mentioned, the MRN book shows varying color. Without going to grab my book right now, i'm pretty sure most of them in his book are more brown anyway. The whole issue of the reddish color started because of the CA website.
