I just got a few isom cohibas and one is rolled in the opposite direction. Has anyone seen this? It is the first time I have ever seen a cigar rolled this way. Slim, any insight or just a left handed roller?

Interesting. Can you post a pic?

I read before that cigar wrapper leaves are "left" and "right" cut depending on which side you have them turned on. Not sure how this all works into the rolling process, but I thougth that a right-handed or left-handed roller still produced cigars that looked the same. Perhaps you got a cigar from a roller that was bored and decided to change things up a bit.

FAKE!!! Quick, send it to me!!!

: )

Direction of the roll can vary. The CT roller that I talked to said he rolls all his the same direction - probably either has to do w/ left or right handed or how the person who taught the roller did it....

The only stick I've ever noticed the direction of the roll is a BTL....Man, you need to spend more time smokin' your sticks and less time looking at them!

It's fake.

Communists only hire right handed torcedors. Smoke it quick before anyone notices.

Question for y'all (understand that I have been up all night at work, and get "edgey" when I don't sleep...)

If you were to smoke this at the equator, at noon, on the equinox, which way would the smoke rings spin?

I just saw this post ...

... and I believe that most likely is it was done by a left-handed roller.

The same can be seen in the AF BTL's, and it is more noticable with them. The concensus over at CF is that they are rolled either left or right-handed ...

BTW --- the left-handed wrapper on any cigar is much rarer, of course ...

OK Thanks Cooksta and Slim... now I got a chore to do... go through all my cigars and check which way they are rolled... to be honest I never ever thought about this before and never came across a thread pointing this one out to me....

Most cigar rollers can roll right or left handed.

With 1 wrapper leaf, you can complete 2 cigars, 1 left handed, 1 right handed.

The wrapper leaf is preparred by removing the center vein. You now have 2 wrappers. They are then placed on a board with the center, or straight side (where the vein was) towards the roller. (This is how you get left and right rolls).

The tips of the leaf always begin at the foot of the cigar. So one cigar starts out with the foot on the right, a right handed roll. And the other on the left side. This happens because the internal veins are always rolled into the cigar and the smoother side is on the surface for a nicer appearance.

The last post regarding 2 sides of the leaf is 100% correct. If you rolled everything "right-handed" you'd have half of your cigars with huge veins poking out. This being due to the fact that the veins radiate from the larger centro vein that is removed. You have to be somewhat ambidexterous (sp.) to roll cigars.
