Well I finally got around to my CAO Odyssey! Thought I'd nail down a decent review for the record:
Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: sixth priming Ecuadorian Rosado
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Size: Perfecto 6 3/4 x 55
The silky rosado wrapper on this beauty is flawless. The clip was clean and the prelight draw is easy. After toasting the foot I’m immediately greeted w/ sweet woody plumes of smoke. The smoke is immediately voluminous and poured out of my mouth in creamy plumes. This cigar begins with a light cedar flavor w/ touches of spice tickling the tongue. It is mild and creamy w/ a sweet clean finish. The bunch is a little loose and the white ash w/ streaks of dark gray flaked off after one inch. The burn isn’t dead even, but it’s not that crooked.
After several inches, the flavors are more intense, still the cedar, but now a more pronounced leathery tobacco flavor w/ sharper spice as well. It is still very smooth and creamy.
After the halfway mark the flavors are settling down into a richer tobacco flavor – almost earthy w/ the same cedar undertones and sweet spice. Down to the nub this cigar grew stronger and the flavors muddled and became very rich but wasn’t overpowering at all and not harsh but a little edgy. This cigar didn’t develop w/ many complex flavors, it remained consistent, smooth, creamy and very enjoyable. The first time I had one, I was surprised at the lack of bold flavors, but I think it’s a credit to its ability to remain smooth and clean but w/ a medium to full body.
