Anyone tried these?

I got 2 boxes coming, a box of toros and torps.

I have tried the Nicaraguan Selection and am hoping these are along the same lines.

Thanks.

I have 2 boxes of the robusto and have smoked 7 or 8 now. I hate to say this cause those 2 boxes may not last me long....but Grand Nica is one of the most underrated and BY FAR the best box of cigars out there for under 40 bucks. I put them in the same category as CAO Black, and Torano 1916. More flavor, and less spice than those 2 though. When you open the box, you are thrown back with the smell of cedary age. Yum!

I can see myself eventually buying 4-5 boxes or so of these, like I did the Dominican Torano with the brown cello.

How does the Nica compare to the Nicaragua selection, you ask? The Grand Nica is less sweet, and has a toothier wrapper, where as, the Nicaragua selection is a smooth, stretched wrapper. Construction is a tie, and may even go to Grand Nica. If you know what a Machine made ISOM 's wrapper looks like.....kinda similar to Grand Nica.

Both medium body, but the Nicaraguan selection is a little smoother, milder, and has a better aftertaste.

I will always say to Veterans and Newbies alike......You can't go wrong with a Torano, any of em'.

I would be extremely interested in a review from you of the Torpedos.

sorry for the ramble,

Dave

I gots to say Hail to Torano and Frankie in particular! He sent a HELL of a care package to those of us on the USS Kearsarge! (Including some Nicaraguan Selections, Exodus Gold, Exodus Silver, Signatures, Reserva Selectas, 1916 Cameroons, and Sweet Memories!) Everbody I've met that's with Carlos Torano Cigars is a first-rate, CLASS act! Including Michael from Cigar Fest!

Thanks for the info.

I will definitely let you know what I think of the torps.

The price is amazing, so I think I may end up getting more. ; )

You are welcome O....I hope they all burn well and taste great!

Now that I go back and re-read my post...where I used the words toothy/machine-made type wrapper. I must have brainfarted for a term to describe the wrapper, cause the construction and wrapper are Awesome on the Grand Nica....but I guess just hard to describe.

I wish I had a little more info on this line of cigars. I heard through the never-ending cigar grapevine, that these are now discontinued. One of the boxes I have has a light yellow cello, and the other is clear....hmmmm. I never expect too much out of a natural wrapped cigar, as far as, ploom/yellow cello. Never hurts though! Hehehehe

As stated above.....OTT they are good, but sometomes can start a little bitter in my experience. A few weeks to a few months make these schweeeet!

dave97402,

PAM and Nica are thinking about taking a road trip to your house. I said to them that you had room for them to stay.

The Nica is one of the first boxes I ever bought - and I still have 2 from that purchase.

Got my boxes of Grand Nicas today.

It is a very mellow cigar, but a very nice cigar.

The construction is incredible.

This may not be considered anything special, by some, but as was said, it is very under-rated.

I paid $35/box for the torps and toros and I have to say, I have spent more on cigars that couldn't hold a candle to the Grand Nica.

Now, if we're comparing it to the 1916, then the 1916 wins hands down, but is also almost 3 times the money.

To say I am pleased with the Grand Nica is an understatement. It is one that I will definitely be buying more of. ; )

I have a pricing question. I won a bid on the Heavyweight II Cameroons; 10 smokes; 5 Torano 1916's and 5 Perdomo 2 Milenario's. The bid was $21. A week later I bought a 5 pack of Torano 1916 for $17(also a 5 of Torano Exodus 1959, same $17). Was the sampler a stupendous bargain, or is the Perdomo 2 a vastly inferior smoke? On CI it goes for $30 a 5 pack - more than the 1916!!

Because the sampler for 10 was just a few bucks more than the 5 pack alone. Maybe the sampler category is a place folks don't check as seriously (shhhhhh....).

Alph Chomper has let the black cat out of the burlap sack

For some reason, mixed samplers occasionally go for a bit or more less than 5 pk prices. Not jest newbs buy them -- one might get a better price on what you're seeking, if you're willing to take a few "ugly ducklings" as part of the deal.
