I recently "won" a box of the 5 Vegas Torpedo. Upon inspection all of the wrappers on the cigars appeared to be fairly immature and closer to Colorado than natural, despite being attractive and non-veiny. Smoking reveled that the tobacco was in fact immature and had deffinite "grassy" undertones. Has anyone had similar experiences with 5 Vegas (any size)? Or was this just a "fluke" box? Thanks.

I got a box about a month ago for baby announcement purposes and retrieved a few for myself. The first out of the box was a nice smoke but I could tell they needed a little 'dor time. None of that 6 months stuff some of these guys post. I do not possess the patience of Job.

"won" a 5 pack a month ago and they were good enough to go for a box. At 2 bucks a stick they'll do quite nicely as an everyday, dor time or not.

Meanie, I know that sometimes its hard to leave them smokes be for a while. I bought some Pyramids a good while back. Thought they were terrible.Gave some away and buried the rest in the coolerdor. While digging through said coolerdor about a year later, I found them and pulled one out. Much better smoke.

The way I'm going here on CB, I got way too many smokes in front of them now to burn. They may make it a year.

Have never had one and now after this thread I am glad I have never "won" a pack or box that I have bid on! Charlie

Charlie, re-read the post. It is resoundingly in favor of these smokes. Why, then, would you not want one??? I'm gonna shoot one off to you so you can make your own decision.

Alright Charlie, I'll restate my opinion. Yes it was a little young, but still a creamy, flavorful, mellow smoke. Never got hot, or overly smokey. Well constructed and a consistent burn. For the price, it's a recommended smoke to always have on hand.

Ok, I have reread the post and maybe I am just a little slow on the uptake! Will try them and see what they are like! Sorry. Charlie

I have had a couple of boxs in my cabinet for around two years now and I must say they keep getting better.

Hey Meany, you describe the smoke as "a creamy, flavorful, mellow smoke. Never got hot, or overly smokey. Well constructed and a consistent burn". ?????DOn't get me wrong, I enjoy the 5 Vegas. But what do you mean by Young, when all of those characteristics tend to describe well aged smokes? Just curious...

I smoked a 5 Vegas this morning on the way to work, that has been aging somewhere around a year ... what a great cigar it turned out to be ... aging really does improve them!

I may be wrong and correct me if I am, if the tobacco is young on an intended creamy mellow cigar, the smoke is not as velvety as it should and the flavor can be flat or simple. As I said before, a short time in the dor should help them along. My main point was that the ones I recieved were good but will get better.

I have cleaned up here with 5 Vegas, I won five boxes of the pyramids, five of the Doble Coronas, three boxes of the Vintage, and 7 boxes of the torpedo mini boxes of 5, and one box of Churhcill, all on blowouts or cheap on the auctions. Some I one as far back as 1999, and today I love all of them, absolutely wonderful, the Vintage though is a bit weak on the flavor compared to the regular line, and the pyramid can have a tighter draw, which is obvious based on its contstruction.
