Some of you guys may remember a couple weeks ago I wrote about having a full humidor and a new box of Fuente Hemmingway Classics.

Well the cooler with some humidified florist foam seems to be working. I have it in a cool spot in my apartment but when it is over 100 degrees outside it is hard to cool the room down more than 20 degrees. So, if my temperature is bumping up a bit should I shoot for more or less humidity? My max is 80 degrees/72% humidity and my min is 68 degrees/62% humidity.

The Hemmingways seem to be perfect but I also have a box of Excalibur 1066s in there also. I tried one yesterday and it started to crack when I cut it.

Any suggestions?

humidity and temperature do not relate to each other. humidity is humidity. if you ae using pg and distilled water in oasis the humidity should remain constant. if it is fluctuating perhaps your humidifier is too small. are you using wet or dry "foam"? what color is it? if you want detailed info re temp and humidity, email [email protected] and i'll send you some info.

I highly suggest Ricks information on proper storage. Very informative. But humidity and RELATIVE humidity are indeed different. If you are measuring your humidity with a standard analog or digital hygrometer, then simply keep the percentage where you like it. True, air does absorb moisture differently at different temps, but the hygrometer's reading is independent of that. In other words, don't worry about the temperature in regards to the humidity, worry about the temperature in regards to hatching those beetle eggs! Keep the temp below 75 F if possible. Otherwise, go through the Freezing process. Enjoy!

The foam is green maybe a shade or two lighter than olive. While there is not much I can do about the temperature I have been able to keep the humidity between 62% and 72%. Probably 90% of the time it stays around 67%. After I've opened the cooler it tends to dip and sometimes if I don't open it for many hours it tends to rise. Really my only concern is the Excalibur 1066s. The Hemmingways are holding great. The Excaliburs are drying fast. Should I maybe put the box of Excaliburs on top and leave them open to absorb more humidity for a day or two?

have you calibrated the hygrometer?

smoke alot more cigars. If all you have is two boxes and they are getting dry you need to smoke alot more cigars. If all you have is two boxes buy a small humidor. Two boxes lasts two weeks, maybe three. Smoke more cigars. Have I made myself clear?

I'll tell ya what...I'll do you a huuuge favor because I like ya...Send all of your cigars to me and I'll keep them in a beautiful humidor with 70% humidity/70 degrees Fahrenheit temperature....LOL
