Iraq was a CREDIBLE threat. SA has terrorists is messed-up, but they are an ally (sort of). Iran's pop is so pro-American it is a matter of diplomacy. Syria, while it is a terrorist haven and evil has NEVER been a direct threat to out Sovereignty. Iraq was a threat and needed to be dealt with. I don't believe in being the watchdog of the world, but when it comes to our safety, then yes, blow he bastards up.

Many people have said similar things. So is it you all just REALLY don't want anything to do with Iraq? Are you really saying you wouldn't be whining if we invaded any other country for similar reasons (based on much the same intelligence that led us to Iraq)? I have my doubts on that one. I bet a lot of people out there just really like hearing themselves complain no matter what.

I do realize that things change, it's the only thing that is constant. But this whole thing has been called a "War on Terrorism", so why is it that certain groups in persay Syria are ok because they haven't bothered us yet? Do we forget all the other people they killed? Does the fact that they weren't Americans make them any less? And again the question of Saddam in the 90's...Why did we let him go? We were at war then so he definitely wasn't an ally. As a matter of fact he has never been considered an "Ally", but I know the reason he lives. It's because he became a useful business partner for the government at the time. And who was heading that gov during that time...Big Bush.

I wouldn't fall into the comfortable little trap that rickamaven and sonny are in. Just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean it isn't happening. We're going after a lot of people all over the world. A large effort in certain countries at one time, many other conflicts most don't hear about in other parts of the world. Many others.

Would you be happy if tomorrow the President told the Nation we're invading Syria or Iran? Based on the same intelligence that led us into Iraq? Are there certain countries you'd 'rather' us invade? Again, based on the same intelligence that led us into Iraq? Since so many people (liberals) are so sure now that all of the intelligence that led us into Iraq was totally wrong, why are you willing to believe it now about these other nations? What in the intelligence field has changed so much since then to make you a believer now?

Why did we stop the Gulf War? For one we met our goal. Secondly, almost as soon as we destroyed the Iraqi column leaving Kuwait (highway of death) there was massive outrage by the political left and so-called humanitarian groups. Remember that? I do. They demonized our military for killing such a large number of enemies in such a manner. Of course, true to the left, there was little to NO outrage for the suffering and death forced onto the Kuwaiti people by the Iraqis. No, their focus was on how inhumane our military was, how horrible our actions were (sounds familiar, doesn't it????).

Let's back up, do you remember the reason for the Gulf War and why we went? Was it to remove Hussein from power in Iraq or to drive the invading Iraqis out of Kuwait? Do you remember? I do. Should we have taken Hussein out of power back then? Yes, I believe we should. Was it our goal at the time? No. Many actions/inactions are so obvious after the fact. But criticizing them years down the road doesn't make much sense, does it?

I honestly (and sadly) believe that many out there have to complain just to hear themselves complain. Complain at the time why we are/aren't doing something or something more/less, then after the fact complain why we did/didn't do more or less. Sad really. I really hope you're not one of these.
