The Fuente family has teamed up with Keith Park, owner

of Prometheus International Inc., to create a limited

cigar brand called God of Fire. It will debut in two weeks at

the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America trade show.

The cigars are made by Tabacalera A. Fuente in the

Dominican Republic and will be distributed by God of Fire

Inc., a company wholly owned by Park. The Fuentes own

half the brand, Park the other half.

There will be two blends under the brand umbrella—God

of Fire by Don Carlos and God of Fire by Carlito. Don

Carlos will be made by Carlos Fuente Sr. with wrapper from

Chateau de la Fuente in the Dominican Republic, binder

from Ecuador and filler from the Dominican Republic and

Brazil. It is designed to have a silky, sweet taste. Carlos Fuente

Jr.’s blend will be more powerful, made with Cameroon wrapper,

Dominican binder and Dominican filler. Both cigars will be

Churchills, 7 inches long by 48 ring.

“This is going to be a very small production, a special production,”

said Fuente Jr. He said that the Don Carlos God of

Fire uses tobacco not typically used from his Chateau, which

grows the wrapper for Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars. “It’s not

Fuente Fuente OpusX tobacco,” he said. “It’s tobacco from

a lower part of the plant—much thinner, lighter in color and

not as peppery.”

God of Fire is named after the Greek Titan Prometheus,

who, as the myth goes, was bound to a rock and attacked by

an eagle as punishment from the gods for stealing fire and

giving it to man. The main band depicts the bound

Prometheus being attacked. A second, smaller band on each

cigar has the name of the blender and the year in which the

cigar was produced. This year’s batch will say “By Don

Carlos, 2004” or “By Carlito, 2004.”

Can you say...$$$$$. Time to re-fi the house.

Who's taking bets? Will they be more/less expensive than Opus X?

It sounds good, but..................

I don't know about you guys but I'm really getting tired of Fuente, and other cigar makers' "LIMITED QUANTITY" cigars! I mean WTC, IMHO I'll stick to the darkside!!!

What Coma said!!!!

It is no suprise to me that Fuente would find some story to tell about the new tobacco going into a new cigar, like it's gold.

Why would they emphasize "Limited" so much.....when we haven't even seen the cigars yet?

Wow. That sounds really, really good. Those will be special sticks to add to the "high end" collection humidor.

My problem is I can't save them. I smoke all my Super Premiums within 6 months of getting them. Thankfully, they always make more!

I am enthused, but not three times as much. I never double-posted before. Might as well start it right and triple-post.

I understand when production is limited by the supply of tobacco. However, yes, it drives the prices up so much that I find a hard time paying that much when I can get wonderful cigars from the darkside for less.

Looks like there'll be plenty of these for me, since everyone out there is a Fuente hater all of a sudden.

I have two coolers full of cigars that I get by the boxful at reasonable prices here and elsewhere. But I sure as heck can taste the difference between them and an AFH, DC, VSG, AFOX, PAM, PAN, etc. I would hardly term AFOX and DC "a joke", and I think many others on this board would agree.

I enjoy all the hype that comes with RTDA, new blends, new lines (especially the "vintage wrappers" of late). That's half the fun. I especially all those new smokes that tank within 6 months and end up on here for a song!

Now if you'll excuse me, I can hear a CT Exodus calling my name clear from the deck.

I hope the Fuente family reads these threads. Something tells me they could care less because people will continue to buy their products like this. It's getting to be a "Hey look at me,im cool because i have these limited cigars" type of thing. I have tried the overpriced Opus X ,and you can have them. To tell you the truth i would put the price for Opus at less than $8.

jeezy peezy!

No, not hate, far from it. I still smoke my Hemingways, my Double Chateau Maduros and 858 Sungrowns with much pleasure and appreciation. Even my DC Maximus are a much enjoyed treat to have resting in my 'dor, but it rests there with my Estavan Cruz Maduros and my Montesino Maduros and Sungrowns (all these are Fuente Family smokes).

It's just that the "limited" production cigar game, played industry wide, seems a little over done to me. I guess I do understand that any manufacturer wants to make a buck, and offering something special, in limited quantity, is a way to get a premium price, but it seems to me it should be truly something special, and not special just because its a limited run.

Ok, that's my nickels worth....sorry to step on toes.

I'm not a Fuente Hater, not at all, I love the product that Fuente puts out, I think its a great family and their cigars are excellent, I have a ton of their cigars resting and I would not stop smoking their cigars, I was just making an observation, that lately, Fuente has been producing A LOT of these "limited release" cigars. As much as I enjoy Opus and Anejos, for the prices they go for I rather smoke the darkside anyday. I don't think any cigar is worth $16-$20 just too many excellent smokes for 1/2 that price.

Every cigar manufacturer has 'limited' production cigars ... nothing new with that.

I guess you some of you guys think that there are just tons of these special tobaccos that go into some of these limited production cigars.

sometimes, growers will grow only smaall quantities of these 'new' strains of tobacco plants, and run a limited release just to see how the market will bear them ... and to see if there will be a demand for them, before using valuable 'growing space' to plant larger crops.

Besides ... as far as I'm concerned, if they are mass produced to the point of being a 'dime a dozen', the quality is going to suffer.
