Hey guys! I need some feedback from those in the know. Who sells the best alternative to your regular humidifier?? Mine takes up to much room in the top of my humidor. I've seen numerous tubes for sale - climaguard, Drimistat, etc. Which ones do you consider to be the best for the money? Any advantages or disadvantages of your favorites? Thanks for the help.

Climmax Humidification has their products in tubos that take up the room of 1 normal cigar but maintain the humidity at either 70 or 65 depending on which you order. I have had very good luck with their regular Climmax beads in my coolerador.

For the "do-it-yourself"er, or the budget conscious I've had really good results using wet foam from the local hobby store. This is the stuff used in flower arrangements.

I cut a small block, wet it with 50/50, put it in a ziplock bag open at both ends, toss it in the coolador/tupador and forget it for about a month.

Total supplies will run you about 10 bucks, and depending on how large you cut your wet foam blocks you can make 10 to 20 humidifiers........cheap!

As with most things, people go with what works for them. Everything that is out there is going to have to be monitored. Some folks like using the wet polymers and some like the wet foam. The advantage of both of these is that you can just throw the stuff away every now and then and start with a new pad or polymer. The pads are easy because they are readily available and super cheap. For less than 1.50, you can try the foam and if it doesn't do the way you want, your out very little.

BTW,

Lowes used to carry the polymer in a little package in the soil and house plant fertilizer area. Sounds like the one place you wouldn't be for something for your humidor but the polymer is mainly used as a soil amendment. It obsorbes something like 100 times its size in water (for a humidor, 50/50 water and PG). Really neat stuff. You can read about some of the regular uses of it at watersorb dot com.

I am a huge fan of Climaxx Media.

It maintains my humidity, more stably than anything else I have tried.

Craft stores as well as garden shops sell packets of crosslink polymer. Each $2 packet has enough media to mix with a gallon of distilled H2O. I used a less than 1/10 of a pack for a 100 ct humi. 65-67% RH all the time. I like it.

Do you remember the name of the polymer(trade name)?? Is it the same as the stuff mentioned above that was found at lowe's?? I appreciate the help.
