had I known you wanted pics of hummingbirds feeding I could have took pics of about 8 different hummingbirds my motherinlaw has down at her place.. she has 2 feeders for them and they constently fight and try to keep the others away from the feeders... mostly the males guard the females away?? don't understand why???

she also has finch and canaries that come in and feed these are all wild and about her 44 acre place.. along with wild turkeys, deer that damn near walk up on the porch... it is nice to get away from the city ever once in awhile....

I am seeing about 5 or 6 different varities of hummers around here over last few months! Black Chinned,Anna's(most common),Costas,Rufous, Calliope,Allens and I believe I even saw a Broadbilled Hummingbird. Have you had all of these? You know I live in Costa Mesa, but the guys are so damn territorial that they run each other off, I have 4 feeders scattered in back and neighbors have several.

i posted another picture of a hummer sitting on a hummer and fighting off all the other birds, then sitting back down on the beak. when he does, the wind chime spins and i think he likes the merry-go-round.

best time to catch them is at dusk, when they are loading up for the night's sleep.
