Any one heard of these, My local guy has a box of club selection #1's I've never heard of them but I bought a couple and thier very good. Medium bodied spicey and toasty in flavor. Looking for opinions I'm thinking of buying the rest of the box. Thier a couple of years old.

Thanks for any input,

Scott

Never heard of them. Any idea who made them? I would advise that if you liked them, and the price is in your reasonable range, buy them. Chances are you won't see them again (assuming they are an older or obscure brand).

They were on closeout last year at another site. Don't know anything about them, but the closeout price was about $100 a box for the torpedo shaped Obelisco.

The 9x50 Gigante was also about $100.

Ah. Found the #1 (6x50) & they were closing out at $69.95 per box of 24. Like redsquid said, if you like em, snap em up now, or as Mike Tyson would say, they will fade into Bolivian.

I had one a few years ago bought on closeout, something like $2.50 for a long corona. Mine was rather mild and tepid with little to write about. It reminded me of a lessor Dunhill. This does not seem to match the description of the ones that you tried.

One side note was interesting. It solved the question of band on or band off rather nicely because the band was attached around the foot. You had to take it off to smoke it.

Band on foot, yup. These were ridiculously over priced. I believe they were quite popular in small sizes in France. I still have part of a box. Quite mild. Any local should be happy to severely discount them, just to recover the cost. Any local who recommends them is a retailer with whom I would not spend my money.

Tastes in cigars are totally subjective, meaning that if you like them, someone will tell you that they suck and you overpaid. And if they do indeed suck, someone will say they are the best thing they have ever smoked and it's a bargain. Bottom line: If you like the cigar, and you don't mind paying a little more for something you truly enjoy setting on fire, GO GET'EM.

Did a little research, The club selection was twice the cost of the regular brand...I guess they where pretty pricey. They also where much stronger. I don't have many mild to med cigars but I think these are great and A nice change of pace and I'm going to snap them up.

Thank's

Juan Clemente - a smooth cigar with fine aroma and fresh aftertaste. It is produced in the smallest plants of Dominican Republic where there is a plenty of time to roll cigars.

The filling and binder are from cultivation areas of Dominican Republic and Brasil. The wrapper is Connecticut's best.

Juan Clemente series is made of real noble tobaccos and has a different composition as filling. It is full-bodied in its taste, therefore very well-balanced and is made from real noble tobaccos and has a different mixture as filling. Being full-bodied in its taste it is nevertheless delicious and full of smoke.

There's a reason the brand went belly-up after the boom.

Juan Clemente was one of the brands that really drew me into cigar smoking many years ago, pre-cigar boom. At that time, they were my favorite cigar and had a wonderful spicy taste that I never could seem to find elsewhere. During the cigar boom years, I tried some again and was disappointed--the blend had obviously changed and that distinctive taste just wasn't there any more. My guess is that, like many brands at that time, they resorted to lesser grade tobaccos to try to meet growing demand. Pity, because prior to this they were great!
