Hi All!

Another Newbie for you to deal with! I've enjoyed reading from this forum.

I have a question regarding the size the foam should be for a small coolidor about 1 cubic foot in size.

Also, I understand the PG solution should be 50/50 and the foam should not be saturated, but should the foam be completely covered with the solution? Should it be filled short of dripping?

I've landed a couple of lots on cbid (great deals!) and I'll need to take care of my sticks in short order.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

One cubic foot will not be large enough if you are winning on CBID. Plan bigger.

I don't know of a rule on foam size, but I think that a chunk the size of a bar of soap would be more than adequate.

The foam (assuming you have the right foam) will soak up a tremendous amount of liquid. Test with a small chunk and plain water, it's amazing. The foam doesn't need to be 100% saturated with the 50/50 --- when the foam feels heavy, you probably have enough. It may be best to leave a little headroom, for adding distilled water later and not flushing out PG by overfilling.

In case you are interested, here's a link to a great coolidor instruction page. Pretty specific instructions, nothing fancy though. Good luck.

I have a piece of foam inside one of those sandwich sized tupperwares that take care of my 70 quart coolers nicely. It doesn't take much, especially when the cooler is full and stabilized.

Thanks to all for your input. With all the great buys on cbid, I will probably need to use a bigger coolidor. The site was great with very detailed instructions. Thanks again for helping a newbie!!

Keep us posted once you get things in operation. I think the fun part will be filling it once it's up and running.
