The hygrometer I bought for my humidor takes forever to get up to its proper reading of humidity, but if you open the humidor it drops like a rock then of course takes a good day and a half to climb back up. Is this normal? is there a better hygromter that reads faster and recovers faster?

This piece of crap is digital, thats what I don't under stand, its slower to react than the built in analog one.

Sounds like something may be wrong with it. My digitals, while not instant, get withing 1-2% right away.
