... who says you can't get a good deal here ...

http://www.cigarbid.com/auction/lot.cfm?lotID=194556

... and to think, my autobid was set at $70 ... 😉

When bidding, I usually set my autobid around $15 to $20 under CI's prices ... and eventually, with patience and perserverance ... it will happen.

Cool deal Slim. Save some money for the new Costa Rican Puro, it's around the corner.

Costa Rican ?!?

I didn't think they had any factories left in Costa Rica anymore ... or is it that they only grow there?

Slim, I didn't think to ask Robert about where it's actually produced. I smoked one at the show and can't remember what the name is but it is the only Costa Rican Puro made and is sold in a beautiful little treasure chest. I'll see if I can get a photo of the band up.

Qoute, Robert Spoden,

"The Treasure of Costa Rica is a Puros...a little tan on the outside with a

big heart in the middle...medium body but firm. Got a little twinkle of gold

in her eye...but never will bite you!"

I'm not sure I understand your question/statement. The former Tabacalera Tambor has moved from Costa Rica to Nicaragua, but several small factories are still producing cigars in Costa Rica. The brands that come to mind that are still being made are Don Ursulo, Vegas de Santiago, Don Tuto, and Jibaro. Only the Don Tuto, however, is a Costa Rican puro. All the others are blends of Costa Rican and other South and Central American tobaccos.

Many bidders are not "aware" of CI prices and they overbid! I agree, they will show up again and I let em go if they even get close to retail price.

Charlie

PS Nice score Slim!

Ya, you caught me Slim.

My math skills suck, I was comparing what I paid for mine to what the next bid would have been for the others, DUH.

Got a responce from Robert saying the new "Treasure of Costa Rica" is a 3000/month limited production from a small shop in C.R., a C.R. Puro made from cuban seeded tobacco. A unique blend and flavor. Can't wait to try one.

I saw some Peg Legs go real cheap a few weeks back, too.

Good work, Slim. Patience comes so much easier when you've built up a nice stock, I've noticed.

Slim's technique works for me, too. Might take a while, but I always get them at my price (or with a mild adjustment upwards). I wouldn't smoke nearly as many cigars, or have nearly as many in stock, were it not for CBid.

Cigarbid has been a Godsend for me (thanks SteveS and Mike)I'd been an on again off again cigar smoker for the last 7 years and just started up full time in May. I just couldn't afford to lay out big (California)bucks for a box of anything decent so been buying 'em pretty much 2 or 3 at a time. Here at Cbid I've scored a couple of the specials to keep me in good smokes and can dabble in some of the samplers and discover some premiums that I can target for later auctions. For the most part I top out at 60% of the CI price. So far it's been win some lose some. Definitely can't complain.
