If those Monte's are ISOM's... the bands look kinda questionable... But not to offend the trader or tradee, I may be wrong. Hard to tell from Pic. Somke it !

Yeah I was kind of questioning them myself. That’s why I posted the pics bc i wanted to see if anyone would say anything. Sort of odd that is the first response I got without saying anything about it. The trader said they were 1996 montes. The band color is a real dark brown and the paper is real glossy. Nothing like my other montes which are dull and a grayish color. I sent him an email so we will see.

I am the person who traded those to Derek. I picked those up in Cuba December '96. They have been sitting in my humidor since Jan. 97. That El Rico was hand given to me By Ernesto Carillo himself who is a close friend. That is the only way you can get the Double Corona in a Mad is threw hind. That A/f Work of Art mad was given to me By Wayne Suarez who married Cynthia Fuente and now runs all the fuente distribution east of the mississippi. That trinidad was handed to me by Gene Tippton aswell, who I had coffee with today. So don't try and tell me my cigars aren't authentic......

I've had several Monte #2 which were procured at an official Habanos dealer in Montreal and they looked exactly like the one's in the picture. The last one was from over a year ago and looks just like the one in the picture here.

It is my opinion that you've got the genuine article... and it sounds like your trading partner fixed you up with some juicy snacks. 🙂

it would be nice to see a close up of the bands. they are blurred in the pic.

Just got back online and read what jason and everyone else wrote. He sent me a very nice email as well. I am fairly new to the whole cigar world and have only been smoking about 8-9 months trading about 4 months. I just got a little confused when the bands didn't match my other one. I'll post a better pic so everyone can see the difference.

Finally I'm not sure if i did anything wrong but just incase i would like to make a formal apology to Jason and would recommend him to anyone who has to oportunity to deal with him.

If you bought them from a reputable dealer, that's great. I said that it's hard to tell from the pic, but the fluer looked a little different and the circle looked off center... but I know there can always be imperfections with the printing.

I recently got a monte #1 with a "semi-glossy" label. The cap and construction are top qaulity, but the rest of my montes have "non-glossy" labels???

(Where's Slim when ya need him...)
