well, it doesn't have the band on it, but i'm sitting here smoking the fresh-rolled robusto i got at a toraño event last month -- now aka the Casa Toraño.
i do believe i have found the perfect cigar for my taste buds.
a half hour ago, i opened it up -- punched through the silky golden-tan wrapper cap like butter. i toasted the foot and got the first promising whiff of smoke.
with many cigars, you have to wait through the first inch or so before you can really get a sense of the cigar's true flavor. not so with toraño cigars; this one is no exception. the first couple of draws brought forth smooth, creamy goodness that blended in perfectly with the nutty spiciness that rose up and announced itself without being the least bit obtrusive.
this cigar has the most delicate (and decadent!) balance of flavor. i can see why toraño used this blend for cigar rolling event sample smokes -- this is going to appeal to a whole spectrum of cigar smokers. the flavor is as full as it gets but stops well short of having even a hint of harshness to it. those of you who fear robust cigars can relax; this cigar won't knock you off your feet. it will, however, sweep you off your feet with its cool, copious smoke.
the toraño family put some kind of magic into this one. how else could a cigar be so smooth and easy going and yet pack such full-tilt flavor in it? how can it be both tantilizingly subtle and yet hold nothing back?
finally, how can a cigar leave you feeling completely satisfied and still leave you longing for more?
i'll warn you now -- don't buy just one of these at a time. i just laid the nub of this to rest, and i'm already lamenting that i don't have another!
