Let me start out by stating that although I just finished smoking one about an hour and a half ago, this by no means has affected my review for this cigar...HEHEHEH...

My favorite Padron cigar from the regular line normally would be the Padron 5000 maduro...

After now having smoked the 6000, I believe I have found my new favorite...

Just having finished a nice dinner of Mazas de Cerdo with yellow rice and platano maduro, my freinds and I returned to Dale's home to enjoy a nice smoke for the evening... I had been chomping at the bit to light up the Padron 6000 since their arrival to their new home 2 days ago but decided to let them sit until tonight!!!

Out of the cellophane wrapper it came and at first look the wrapper is very dark and opulent with shades of dark brown vignetting along it's thin and smooth veins. It was very firm to the touch from the foot up to the top of the body showing a slightly softer touch at the beautifully pointed head. The scent of the wrapper was of a dark mellow cocoa while the foot of the cigar made up for the mellow smell of the wrapper with a heavy dark roasted coffee bean smell.

I proceeded to cut the needle-like point of the cigar with a double bladed cutter severing away a little over a quarter of an inch off the head. I then brushed the excess pieces of tobacco from the head and placed it in my mouth for lighting. At first burn, the foot of the cigar gave off a nice smell that reminded me of the roasted coffee beans again. For the first 1/4 inch of the cigar the flavor was spicy and rich as the filler and wrapper began to find a nice mediate to burn evenly. After the first quarter the spiciness mellowed out and gave way to a rich and oppulent (dense) coffee bean flavor that after you exhaled the smoke, left a great coating in your mouth and palate. I found myself drawing in air just to taste the coat of flavor the body of smoke was leaving on my tongue!!! The middle of the cigar was constant and not very complex. The middle reminded me of opening a chocolate bar up and taking the first bite. After the first bite, if you put it away though, you still have that flavor in your mouth and even though you don't want to because of the heinous calories, you pick it up again and before you know it the chocolate bar is gone!!! The same went for the middle of this cigar. Before I knew it I was at the head of the cigar where the strength kicked in and that slight spiciness creeped back onto my palate. Nice finish but a little hot if you nub it too much (I left a little under a quarter inch of it before I burned my fingers)... The ash on the cigar was a snow white color that looked great and held for a good 1" to 1.5" without smoking it vertically!!! Overall it had the dense and rich dark flavors of the 1964 and 1926 Maduro Anniversary lines, but isn't as COMPLEX as it's older brothers...

Definitely a must try and Padron does what Habanos don't have the luxury of doing, which is aging their tobacco which makes these IMHO ready to smoke out of the box!!!

What's the difference between the 3000 and 6000? (besides the $40-$50 in price). Both are 52 x 5.5 w/Nicaraguan binder,filler,wrapper.

Jones,

To my palate, the 6000 wrapper has been of the darkest I've yet seen for Padron's non-anniversary line. Rich and dark with an excellent aftertaste. The 3000 didn't leave me with the same coat of flavor on the palate. I'm speaking of the maduros on both versions...

I stopped by my local shop this afternoon for a smoke and some conversation with some of the guys. I had my mind all set on a nice fat LFD Ligero 400 when I heard this voice calling me. "Over here dummy, 2nd door from the right." Bam, there it was, a lone box of 6000 Maddies. I tried to fight it but to no avail. I succumbed to the dark side and reached for the 6000... the next thing I remembered was the smell of burning flesh as I had nubbed this beauty to the max. Needless to say, thschrminm's review was right on. And just for good measure, I cooled off with the LFD.

Jose,

Yeah, yeah, I know. We're all maddie whores, but the Padron natties with a year on 'em are kick a** smokes IMHO.

I stopped by the cigar store and I picked up three of these little guys. The price was $6.99 each. At first look I was taken back by the short length. Although size isn't everything in a cigar, I have learned it does make a difference. I have smoked several Padrons and I expect some things out of a Padron that I may not of a lesser brand. These are consistency in flavor, burn, smoke. I guess what I am saying is this cigar was all that but, I was disappointed in the finish. I blew right through this one puff puff puff just short of an hour. I will let the other two rest and re-vist them when I get the urge. I'm thinking though for my dough I'm going with the 5000 maddie. Just MHO

I just ordered a box of the 6000 Maduro, and got it for $137.95. That's just a little over $5.50 each ...

... and it was from a tabocconist is California, of all places!

Unbelievable ...

I was rather disappointed with the 6K natural I had this afternoon. Very strong, but one-dimensional. I am partial to maddies, but they were already sold out
