I just checked the price on Camacho Liberty 2004 box of 1 at CI & they were $13.50. I paid $16.00. What a dumbash! Oh well. Also got a box of Buc Full Sails for $61.00 & a 5 pack of Buc Clasico robustos for $23.00. The Dimeolas for $9.00 was also a good buy, so overall, I did ok.

Don't let it get you down, I think I did the same thing... Got some Hemingway Signatures (5 for $41) but got a decent deal on the Def Sea 5 pack and some AVO's

its called the school-o-hard knocks. i once paid $28 for a bundle of morro castle. ya, go ahead, laugh it up. my brother actually over paid a bit just to get into the same auction, just so he could leave a comment, miserable little $&^%$@%. i learned that after you insert a price, you really need to left click before you try to scroll, or your scrolling moves the price up or down. i also learned how to edit a bid after that. it was learning day.

Some smokes on here routinely get bid up to retail. I confess to paying $20 for a fiver of Sherpa Mystics, but that still abot .80 ea. below CI retail, but the shipping was combined with all my winnings that week, and I about STOLE some other stuff that week! 🙂

Been there done that. Lucky it didn't hurt to bad. I thought I was bidding on a brick of tins and it turned out to be one. No wonder it was so cheap. You can't forget to READ the web page not just drool on the key board and bid bid bid.....

There is no such thing as 'overbidding' ...

... it's all relative and highly subjective.

Yup. The price is high in one state and a steal in another. I have tobacco shops about 100 miles apart in the same state that will vary as much as $2 or $3 a stick for some high end smokes.

Then ya gotta factor in how badly you want those smokes, and how easily (or not) you can get them where you live.

Finally, there's wind direction, elevation and relative humidity.

I think I drifted into rifles somewhere through here.

Hey, I almost forgot...

I got two packs of matches with my "overbid" cigars!

Maybe that is the key to getting matches!

or not...

I think they just simply run out of matches from time to time & are waiting for a new shipment to arrive, or it depends on who packs your box, or the C-bid folks have noticed the anxiety about matches on this board & are just having some fun with us, or it could be all three scenarios.

:)

I don't need no stinkin' matches ... :^)

I've gotten so many over the years (and don't use them) that I could 'wallpaper' and entire all with 'em ... 😉

I even sent out a half dozen boxes with a trade I did a year or so ago ... as a joke (he complained he never got matches).

When the weather gets cooler ... I think I'll have a bonfire ... hehehe!

That is about a buck over retail before taxes. Just look at the fun you had bidding on it and the anticipation waiting for it to be delivered. Can't get any better than that!

I am going to split hairs per Slim's remark that there's no such thing as overbidding.

As you know, I love a good overbidding thread, and believe there are far too few of them, so I feel it's my duty to contribute to them when one finally is posted.

If CI sells a box of cigars for $60 and they are in stock, and you 'win' that same box on auction at C-bid for $65, you overpaid. If you want to say, "OK, I overpaid, but I didn't overbid," go ahead. We all understand.
