Over the years I have tried the Don Tomas a few times and never was very impressed. I tried several of their lines and found them all a bit green tasting and boring in general. Actually, can't say I ever finished one. Until last night.

While at a local shop yesterday during my lunch break I spotted a box of these and decided to give DT's one more whirl after reading some good things about the Cameroon line. I am a sucker for anything Cameroon. Don't always like them but have to at least try anything with that wrapper. To me a good cammie cigar is better than almost any other.

When first lit I got that sinking feeling that it was going to be another so-so smoke but puffed away for a few minutes to see how it would develop. Got that grassy flavor at first but it developed into a richer flavor as I went along.

About halfway into it I realized I was truly enjoying the complexity of flavors. It had that Dominican signature flavor, kind of light and grassy, hiding in there but other flavors were dominating as it burned down. Perfect burn and tons of smoke. The wrapper must be really good stuff because it's taste was in the front with that rich, smooth creaminess that I love about cammies. Right behind it was a noticeable flavor that reminded me of Mexican tobacco which, on it's own, I usually tend to dislike but in this blend added a very interesting and delicious twist.

I smoked this one down to about the inch mark where it got a bit hot so I put it down.

Overall I very much enjoyed the smoke and plan on looking for more here on CB. Thanks to all who have been recommending them!

I first have to agree with what you said about Cameroons in general, mmmm!! I also agree with this particular cigar, especially considering the price.

One of my goto dailies. My favorite, lower priced, cameroon wrapped cigar. The perfectos do take a little bit to open up, but it is worth it. You think they are good now, age them 6 mo to a year, then they really remind me of A.Fuentes Hemis, not quite there but, on the same playing field. Damn, I believe I want one now.
