Yes, I realize that this may not be about cigars, but it does concern Cigarbid. Item #202507/ Irishman....Why is okay to stereotype the Irish as "drunk and ready to fight"? What other sterotypes are Cigarbid gonna sell next? Who's next? Blacks, Gays, Jews, Italian? Is this the start of a Cigarbid "collector series"? Does anyone else have a problem w/ this? Is this something to just laugh at? I just emailed Trish, saying I find this item offensive. Sorry for the rant, return to your cigars. Tim aka Kornazoo

I'm an American. My heritage is Irish and German.

I could give a rat's a$$ about stuff like this.

Have you seen the Irish comedian that talks about prescription drugs? He says most people are worried whether or not they'll work, while our people worry...

"Can I drink with this?"

You gotta' be able to laugh at yourself. I'm over this overly PC world of ours and I'm doing my part to reverse it a bit.

I don't mean to offend you either, but you asked.

Yeah, I'm laughing at myself. But my real question is a "PC" question...and yes, I pride myself on NOT being PC, but why is this okay? Because it refers to an ethnic group that's White? Try this w/ Gays or even worse Lesbians, and you'll see who doesn't have a sense of humor!

I'm Irish and a drunkard, but I'm not much of a fighter. Truth be known, I'm a bit of a wimp. I guess I'm a disappointment to the Irish.

I don't care who you are, I'm going to make fun of you. Black/white/red/yellow/gay/ugly/fat/stupid/smelly/whatever, you're not safe, and I don't give a damn if you're offended. People have got to learn to ignore what they know to be untrue. They also have to learn to accept what is true. The latter may be greater task.

Denis Leary - Traditional Irish Folk Song

They come over here and they take all our land

They chop of our heads and they boil them in oil

Our children are leaving and we have no heads

We drink and we sing and we drink and we die

We have no heads, we have no heads

They come over here and they chop off our legs

They cut off our hands and put nails in our eyes

O'Grady is dead and O'Hanrahan's gone

We drink and we die and continue to drink

O'Hanrahan, no O'Hanrahan

They buried O'Neill down in Country Shillhame

The poor children crying a fe dee din de

Hin fle di din fle di din fle de din de

In hey bibble bibble hey bibble bibble hey fle bibble de

O'Hanrahan, no O'Hanrahan

We drink and we sing and we drink and we sing, hey!

We drink and we drive and we puke and we drink, hey!

We drink and we fight and we bleed and we cry, hey!

We puke and we smoke and we drink and we die, hey!

Life is rough get a fu%#ing helmet - Denis Leary

What lofty said... the 2nd paragraph, that is.

If you want to fight PCness, you've got to start at home. Then you can take it to 'em.

Lofty1, you wrote, "I don't care who you are, I'm gonna make fun of you." I guess I don't agree w/ your sense of humor, and that's your perogative. I will agree that we all tend to take ourselves too seriously, and we could all lighten up. FYI, Keith@CigarBid agreed w/ me that the original description was over the top, and has since changed it. And Lofty1, if this doesn't suit you, come on down to the Bar, and I'll buy you a fine Irish Whiskey...

Actually, it mockery exists for all races and groups. It's just done in a more public fashion than in an obscure figure for sale on a cigar website.

kornazoo,

doesn't suit me? heck, i don't care. it doesn't bother me in the least. i'm just saying that people should have more fun laughing at themselves. in many cases, stereotypes exist for a reason. if you don't like the stereotype, don't act the part. when enough exceptions to the rule exist, the rule loses credibility. i realize that there are some stubborn folks that are just plain "haters" because his/her dad was and his dad's dad was and so on. those are the clowns you just laugh at.

but, you know, i'd love to take you up on that whiskey offer. let me know when you plan to visit north TX. just don't start a fight with some other guy while we're there -- i've already been over that.

Don't be so damn uptight about something that is funny and meant to be a joke! I hate Political Correctness, as it has helped to ruin ethnic humor!

I did not see the original ad copy for the statue.

It appears the statue is a likeness of the great Irish bareknuckle boxer, John L. Sullivan.
