Whenever I smoke whether it be a cigar or my pipe I run into a problem where my mouth produces tons of saliva. it's pretty gross, and no one seems to know why. Can anyone here help explain?

Just call me "Sir Spits-A-Lot"

If I have something to drink, this doesn't happen.

I'll have to start experimenting with that, unfortunately my house goes through drinks faster than you can blink. usually the only thing we have to drink is beer.

SO, what's the problem?

There's no short answer to your question. It appears you are experiencing symptoms of a rare form of myoplectic thorasic displasia. Cigar smoke enters the calla (caya) boca cavity and distorts the lapavial salivanada perplinca, excreting marsupial pigmentation.

Now I'm not a doctor, but...I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I have the same problem...I also am a "spitter"...I keep a "spitoon" glass nearby....may be gross to some, but it sure helps me to enjoy cigars much more if I can "dispense" the saliva.

I have the same issue. While my wife has come to accept my newfound love of a good cigar, she hasn't come to grips with the occasional spitting.

I have a nice metal pot filled with sand next to my chair on the porch, complete with lid for my ashes, butts and saliva expulsions.

Ya'll crack me up!!! The extra saliva is normal. Having a drink with your stogie will help.

Now here's one to ponder. Have ya'll also experienced the need to burp after smoking a cigar? I've noticed on occasion that on an empty stomach after smoking a stogie that I've got some built up air that needs to come up. Odd, eh?

puff: when you smoke a cigar, it alters the way you breathe, and that can cause changes in the amount and level of gas, hence you burp. 🙂

This thread is funny...

I guess you guys don't realize that it is NORMAL for your mouth to produce excess saliva when you introduce a girthy, cylindrical object...it's all good...just helps whatever it may be to go down better!

Damn, I salivate and burp all day without a cigar. I may have a problem here!

Seriously, try having a drink with the cigar, and slow down between draws. It'll help.

You need to stop smoking the cigars with the lemon zest wrappers. When you get a chance, try the Don Fuego Desierto Arenoso Calientes. A truly dry smoke.

You had to know we were gonna have fun with this one.

Marla, you do have a way with words.

Of course you realize that the "Me...What else?" thread will have to be topped ...again!

I have also found that cigar smoking stimulates my appetite significantly.

I wonder if that is a side-effect of the nicotine?
