I was a rare cigar smoker up until 2 months ago. I was getting married and decided to grab a cigar for the bachelor party. I had no clue what to grab, and snagged a R&J Vintage #1. Well, I enjoyed this cigar so much that I had a tough time keeping my eyes on the 'entertainment' that night. I LOVE this cigar. Since then, I've tried many others, but none seem to compare. I love the spicy, almost potpourri flavor. I caught my 18yr old little brother smoking a black & mild, and gave him a swift slap. He's now an avid Cristo smoker. He prefers the leathery cigars, while I love the spicy cigars.

Today, I got permission from the wife, and went over the edge. Ordered a small humidor, nice cutter, and a box of legends Red Label. The description leads me to believe this will have the power and spice I love. I'm not expecting R&J quality, but when the new wife limits me to $150, I have to make sacrifices.

My boss tosses a cuban my way every now and then. I roast my own coffee, and he fell in love with some of my Kenya and Sumatra roasts. Traded him a pound of home roasted coffee, custom ground (cost me maybe $6, retail for it store roasted would be about $15) for a cuban Cristo. Not my type of cigar, but has some good trade value to it.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. If anyone has any reccomendations on a cigar I might enjoy, let em rip.

Welcome to the party ...

A "small" humidor, eh? ... well, that'll change soon enough if you hang around here ... but "permission from the wife" ... now THAT could be a problem.

Yeah, exactly right. I have a small humidor....

...and I have one more being shipped to me today so I can start filling it.

you should bypass the permission and go straight for forgiveness.

Married 2 months is a little early to bypass permission. I grabbed a 35-40 humidor with divider. CI does have a 100 humi with exterior defects for cheap, but it didn't have any dividers, and I don't expect to stuff it with all the same cigar.

Welcome to the insanity... Check out the C-Bid Anonomus thread LOLOL...

I'm relatively new here also, about 3 months or so. Last night m wife says to me, after I had received my latest shipment yesterday, "You have enough cigars now to last you for at least a couple of years!" LOLOL

Anyway, welcome. Be sure to read the "Newbee" threads here and on the trade forum.

Hey cexshun,

When you run out of storage space, for all the great deals you get on cbid, do a search of the boards, for coolerdor. It will give you a great way to spend your $$$$$$ on more cigars rather than larger humis.

Later

Dave (A.K.A. Homebrew)

P.S. Welcome to cbid. Send me your snailer, and I'll see if I can't help you need that coolerdor, sooner rather than later. Heh Heh

Forget forgivness and go right to girlfriend!

C'mon....hitch up dem pants, walk in the room and announce that you will be buying cigars, and you will be buying a bigger humidor. Take a deep breath, but don't let her get a word in edge wise during this part....Tell her that you will be buying dinner at a really NICE restaurant. Then go out and buy her a nice set of diamond earrings.

If that doesn't work then I'd be happy to let you "borrow" my "Manly Manual" so you too can read along.

Ha. She already has that huge a$$ rock called an engagement ring. Maybe I'll just keep her stocked up in chick flick DVDs. What do they call them? Oh, "Romatic Comedies". I can see it now.

2 UPS boxes arrive. "Here honey"

"Oh wow! I love these movies. You bought me 5 DVDs? Hey, whats in that box?"

"Oh this? Just some cigars. Hey, let's watch that Brad Pitt movie!"

"OK!"

It's crazy, but it just might work...

Humidors are like rabbits, they multiply and multiply while the wife/mate/other will keep saying, "Why does anybody need all those cigars"!? My answer, "Why do you need all those shoes"?

Soon you'll be meeting the UPS guy like I do & sneaking the cigars in the house when the wife isn't looking or goes out for awhile.

I have my UPS guy clued on anything from CI/CBid or a couple others, to stick the box by the trash cans between our house and next door neighbor! Great until there is a substitute!

Married 2 months is a little early to bypass permission

=================================================================

Au contraire, it's two months overdue and may, in fact, be too LATE to do so ...

And, let me call your attention to www.netflix.com where you can set up an account, then pick a line up of said chick-flicks and have them arrive by mail ... with a bit of timing, they'll do so on the same day your box from CB arrives ...

PS ... don't delay getting on top of that "permission" thing ... the longer you wait, the tougher it'll be

Welcome cexshun.

The shoes retort works well, just don't overuse it. Learn to answer THE question (Why do you need more cigars?) with a question. It'll buy you valuable time to refine your explanations. And if all else fails...suck up BIG time!

It is easier to beg forgivness, than ask permission...

When asked WHY?

"But honey, I have to have SOMETHING to trade with!

Welcome to the madhouse, you will never be the same!

Welcome! If you already have to ask permision then you are a doomed man.

Here are some tips

1) if you see your wife admiring anything, tell her to buy it.

2) If you don't have a seperate checking acct, get one.

3) If at all possible have your CI & C bid packages arrive at your work.

4) Never ask, order first and beg for forgivness later.

5) Take twice as much as you need from the atm machine for lunch and deposit the other half in your personal acct for cigars.

6) Never, never, never, let them find out what a cigar costs.

7) Never let them see you sweat!

Hope this helps

Scott
