I had a good night tonight. Cooked dinner for the family: tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, followed by penna pasta in a red sauce and a pork loin marinated in peppercorns. Opened a nice bottle of Merlot and now it's cigar time. Let's finish the bottle, but it's raining outside, don't want to waste a good cigar standing out in the rain. Let's smoke one of those inconsistent Morro Castle Robustos that I bought last year, cause Gonz gave them a decent review. If I don't like being in the rain, I can just drop it and move on.
Light it up, and five minutes into it, I am really enjoying life. A little wine and a nice smoke. Smooth, spicy. It's burning evenly, unlike half of the previous ones that I have had. An inch down the line and I really wish that I had an awning and a chair, so I could sit and enjoy it. An inch and a half and I sit it carefully on my mailbox so I can run in the house and top off my glass with the rest of the wine. The ash is perfect, a light grey. Careful, don't suck it down, enjoy it. Halfway through the cigar and I wondering when the ash is going to finally drop. Nearly three inches down the ash falls, a small cone tells me I am smoking a little fast, but hell, it's raining and I am feeling pretty good. Maybe the year that it's sat in my humidor has done it some good, I don't remember the last ten of these being this damn good. I set it down with a little less than two inches to smoke and come in here to tell you about it.
Inconsistent? A year ago, I was smoking Morros when I was cutting the grass or working round the house, to save me from smoking up my Onyx Mini Belli’s. Now I am wondering if I need to get another bundle and let them sit in the humi for a year or two.
