Stumbled across this today. This is Wanda. She got to be 26" before I had to sell her back to the fish store. She got to big for the 125ga and I didnt have room for a 240ga.

I've heard the salt waters are much harder to take care of is this true??

the wife seen some of the salt water corals and things at the store the other day when we were in there and she fell in love.. she thought that was so cool that they were actually alive...

she wants catfish.. and a Bass LOL.. I told her we'll get an albhino (sp) catfish and will have to section off the tank until it grows large enough wally doesn't have it for a snack LOL

Arrowana, also known as the "Dragon Fish", are simply one of the most majestic looking freshwater fish in the world!

I use to have an Arrowana many years ago ... along with a Black 8 inch Placostomas.

The Arrowana could eat a goldfish in two bites ...

Under her is a shovel nosed catfish.

Nope, this is a fresh water tank. Never had salt, but they are a lot more involved.

we're going to get a 125 gal next week, it will take a bit longer to get it all set up and installed.. but I'm looking forward to the outcome and we can close off one of the area's and the daughter wants to other aquarium in her room as to we can get these other fish to add to the 125... as I said before we have 2 other goldfish that wally didn't eat in with him now and also a exoskelital sucker fish he battles with all the time...

Goldfish hell...it ate a 6 inch Bala shark in one gulp. That was a $15.00 feeder fish. I guess thats what it gets for hanging out at the top of the tank. A friend of mine used to drop frogs in his tank and watch his big boy gulp um down.

These things can get up to 4 feet in the wild. Black Arrowanas (Asian) can get even larger. They have been known to bolt out of the water and snatch birds off low limbs in the Amazon.

I raised this one from a pup. She was about 4 inches long when I got her. Still had the yolk sack.

Slim, there is a foot long plecto in that tank somewhere.

Hog, make sure you filter the crap outta that thing. I had 2 powerheads on the undergravel with a whisper 800 pump, a back filter AND a canister filter.

Kept it nice and clear. Big fish, big poops.

yep we're all set up with a whisper 480 or something like that?? also a siphen pump and undergravel kit that will handle a 175 gals...

I'm working on the drawings for the entertainment center to house all this stuff now LOL...

I see these in Vietnamese restaurants all the time. They keep them for luck and prosperity. They get quite expensive when they're large.

I used to have an Arowanna. He loved to eat goldfish.

I had an Arowana that was about 8 inches long when I bought him and he got to be about 20 inches long when I had to sell him..........ate crawfish, gold fish, etc!!!

had one that got 36" before i had to get rid of it(silver) 30" for the black. now working on an aust. and is 20" right now. as for the shovelhead cats the tigers are real cool.
