Forgive my ignorance but don't they need a nest or at least some sort of "padding" for comfort?

Blood, when I first started breeding them I said the same thing. I wanted to put some feathers in the box but that's how they do it. In the wild they nest in what ever they can find , a hole in the ground ,a pile of rocks, a nuke in a tree. I had 6 pairs of beautiful Europeans and one day this ugly pin head of a budgie flew in and sat on top of the aviary, I tried to catch her with no luck. We left for the weekend and when I returned she was still there. She was so exhausted that I was able to catch her. I put her in the aviary and she immediately pushed all the eggs out of the nests. She has now taken over and breed with Jesus. My kid's named him that because he was the one that took care of every one else in his flock. And of course Billy , that's what my kids named ugly budgie she took him over too. Now I have European ugly budgie hybrids. But that's cool Billy, got her way. I will post picks of her grand kids , I think that's the her grand baby in the pic. Dan

Cool pics Dan. Do you hand feed? It can be a blast watching them grow by the hour.
My wife and I breed about 15 pairs of parrots and keep 4 parrots and a pair of budgies as pets.

I don't recall ever talking about my stand on abortion. But I'm praying for that first grandbaby of yours. Five toes ,five fingers, takes after grandpa ahhh, can I take that part back.

BMW, almost missed your post, Rick can do that to you. No I don't hand feed. The first set of babies I had I did but both parents and even the whole flock will feed them. They are very social birds that's what makes them so fun to watch.

Parrots look like a lot of work, but I'm sure they are worth it. I think I saw a post of your babies. I look forward to seeing more. Dan
