First post to this particular forum...Just heard on the news that the N.Y. Mets are donating their paychecks for the upcoming Atlanta Braves game (totaling over $500,000) to the families of firefighters and police officers killed at the World Trade Center tragedy...You can say whatever you want about the team, but very classy on their part...Keith

The Yankees and Mets are also trying to organize an auction of signed memorabilia. A bat signed by both teams. A glove signed by both short stops etc... proceeds will also benifit the victims.

Yes both NY teams have shown class amongst all the overpaid athletes. Hopefully their example will be followed by all the "It's not about the money" and all the rest of the professional athletes. Rusty Wallace and Jeremy Mayfield are leading a group of at least 20 drivers that are donating $20-$25 per lap they complete in this weekends races.

Many MLB's are giving, and Curt Schilling was the first one to call for salary to the fund. He is a big organizer for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and one of the most giving of all atheletes. Charlie
