1 last question before lights out. I just picked up a new one of these and I want to make sure it's calibrated right. Can I use the salt & water method as with the analog's or does someone know of a better method of testing it. Thanks again.

I have a Western digital and it specifically states, "DO NOT perform the salt test, wet towel test or submerge it in water." They are factory calibrated and shouldn't need to be tested any further.

I'd recommend using the salt test on every hygrometer you own prior to using it, just to make sure. I even go as far as recalibrating my analogs 2-3 times a year.

Hey Steve,

I just purchased a new humidor last week and it came with the 50/50 solution. How much of it do I put into the round Credo. I might have overdone it as every 6 hours or so I would check it and kept adding more of the solution. Now it's pretty much saturated. Is it still OK to keep it in there that way or should I dry it out for a while. Thanks again.

Constantly adding 50/50 is something you should not do ... the PG half of the mix does not evaporate readily ... what it does is regulate the rate at which the distilled water half evaporates ... if half of the water evaporates and you replace it with 50/50, your mix is now 62.5/37.5 ... as you might imagine, if you continue that pattern, you will end up mostly PG and very little water ... and that will not properly humidify your cigars ...

Instead, charge the credo with 50/50 and add plain old distilled water as needed, using the 50/50 very sparingly.

Since you mentioned your element is oversaturated, I would take it out of the humidor and turn it upside down on a paper towel for a little while. This will help remove any excess moisture.

The 50/50 solution is only required every 3 months or so. However, you should recharge your humidification element(s) with distilled water, as needed, during this 3 month interval.

Thanks Steve,

I'm glad I asked because on the bottle it says not to dilute it with any water. It was the first time I used the credo so I'll take it out for a day or so and let it dry like you said. Since it will probably still be damp, should I just put it back in as is or add distilled water. This 70/70 crap is driving me nuts.

Put it back in after allowing it to dry a bit. Then see how your cigars are after a few days or even a week. If they seem as though they are drying out, add distilled water.

Don't get caught up with 70/70, they're just numbers! If your cigars are smoking the way you like them, things are ok. If it ain't broke, don't fix it 😉

Would this be the same situation with the cigar juice 70/70 ?
