You said you wanted to see some of our faces, well here is my ugly mug sitting along a road side river just outside Boulder Colorado on October 1st. It was a great, but short trip, I will deffinately be going back next summer for a longer stay. (notice the knee brace is still on)

Nice pic John.

Man, how long do you have to wear that thing!?

Tina hasn't been around in a few days, has she.

I've had the brace on for about 7 weeks now, yesterday I went to the Dr. and he said I should wear it for another 2 months. The tear in the tendon was extreme and he is worried about me slipping and injuring it again. There is about a 6 inch vertical scar right over the top of the knee cap.

Yikes!

Mike tore, broke and dislocated everything that he could in his left knee...bone graft also...

Sure wasn't fun for either of us. This was back in the stone ages...1987. His scar is from mid-thigh to about 4 inches below the knee...I guess about 13 or 14 inches. Not pretty.

One thing that I can vouch for...stick with the physical therapy! He cut it short a few weeks or so and his range of motion is such that he can't sit on the floor on his knees...difficult when you have to work on commercial refrigeration equipment on the floor.

And wear that darned brace as long as you have to and longer...it's not worth repeating that episode!

Good luck John!

Thanks Marla,
everyone who has been through something similar has told me to stick with the physical therapy, its a pain in the butt, but I am healing up nicely. Up to 90 degrees bend with no problem now.

Looks like you're near Boulder Falls. I lived and worked in Boulder for many years. It can be a lovely place.

I honestly have no idea where we were, except that we left Boulder and drove to a restaraunt called the Red Lion, it was very good. We actually get there early, so we kept driving on the same hiway until we got to Nederland CO, then turned around and went back and ate. I had the snails and an Elk steak.

Same brace, right knee this time after my bowling incident.
Another three months with it on, that will make Christmas shopping fun.

John,
I'm not from Co. but back in my bike racing days I road that same highway you are sitting by to Nederland many times for training. Only one long hill all the friggin' way from Boulder!
Thanks for the pic.

Yep, thats the road DED, we took it to Nederland and turned around came back and ate at the Red Lion Inn. It was awesome. If you rode your bike both directions you are a better man than I. I wouldn't have done that in my fittest days. It was damn pretty, can't wait to go back.
