In my quest for a cheap smoke at CigarBid, I got a bundle infected with bugs. They are confined to only one humidor at presant. How do you get rid of them and insure the humidor is sterile and don't spread. I already disposed of about 50 cigars that were infected.
Help!

If the cigars are cheap, throw them out. If not search under "beetles" "bugs" etc...plenty of tips on how to handle. All involve disposal or freezing.

I got burned by the bug once..caught it early & only lost one cigar. Since then, I always but new cigars in the freezer for 24 hours, then to the fridge for 24 hours (so not to "shock" them and cause splits) before they earn a place in the humidor....I defer to the rest of the board as to whether this is a good practice.

If I Have Bought Less Then Premuim Sticks.I Put Them In A Old Humidor For A Few Weeks To Make Shure They Are O.K.Befor I Put Them With The Rest.

Had em. They're gone. Deep freeze for three days. Fridge for three more. Room temp then 'dor. I was pleasantly surprized that I can not taste a difference. Be certain to SEAL the smokes in tupperware or ziplocks to prevent freezer burn.

If they're cheap, toss them! It's not worth the time and effort!

Don't be fooled into thinking only cheap cigars have beetles. The worst infestation I ever had arrived via some Hemingway Short Stories.(To be fair, they were seconds. But still.)I read somewhere that some factories put there cigars in a vacuum chamber to destroy the beetles, but have not found anymore info about this practice. Does anybody know if this is true, and how does it work? Are the eggs, ruptured because of change of pressure? Keep smokin
