Actually, poodles are very good water dogs, bred for it. That is why they have the funny haircuts. The "puffs" were originally designed to keep strategic parts of the dog warm in the water. I know, more than you really wanted to know...lol.

Charlie, poodles (not the little "toy" ones) were originally bred to be retrievers! I had a poodle mix once, and had to break him of it, because he tried to retrieve fishing lures while I was fishing! (off a 2 1/2 foot high bulkhead!)
