River cat, My grandfather had some old pictures of ones they caught in the Mississippi that were about 7 ft tall and over 1000 lbs. I bet that's a fight!

I saw on the outdoor show last year when these guys go catfishing without any rods. Just dive down into the mud and feel and grab, hope they don't have teeth on these suckers, LOL!

I myself rather fish from a boat while enjoying a cigar.

all I can say is DAYUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM lmao and I agree with KNOF - nothing like just relaxing on a boat and catching fish or on a pier for that matter with some drinks and a few 'gars...ahhhhh my kind of fun!!! 🙂

I went noodling once........once!

This was the first piece of advise my buddies told me.
"If you cant reach all the way back into the hole you go underwater to get deeper. If you grab...er.....if the fish grabs you...you better beable to drag the fish up out of the hole or you will drown." That's great.....i'll just stand here and watch for snakes.

Oh...and beavers dont like it when you mess with them either. Or let's see...snakes...and the good ol'turtle.

But it is amazing how big a fish you can pull out of a creek or river that is only ankle deep. We cau....they caught 4 fish that day and the smallest was 38lb. The biggest was 54lb.

Im not doing anykind of hunting or fishing where im the bait.

Something is not right about this photo.

okay where is the dorsal fin? i can remember when they put the new lock and dam in at Alton, Il. Divers would come up and not go back in because there were catfish that were bigger than they were. personally i have yet to have a catfish bigger than 4-5 lbs. that was worth eating. seems like their meat gets real slimy and tastes foul when they get any bigger. my .02

Hey Tony6771, Are you from the Alton area ? Is Fast Eddies still serving brews and burgers ?

The fish's head body and tail are not in perportion to each other. The picture does not look like a 140 lb fish it looks much larger but does not look real.

The world record for the largest catfish is 130 pounds so I doubt that 1,000 pounds. As for noodling... don't think I would want to grab that big boy with my bare hands.

This is a Wels Catfish that was caught in Fiume Po, Italy on a live eel. The length was 215 cm (6.55 ft) and the weight was 85 kg (187.4 lbs). The photo was taken by Yuri Grisendi who helped also to weight the fish.

I am Lucas van der Geest and I caught this fish in the river Po, somewhere south of the city of Mantova (Italy).
I myself live in Holland (near Amsterdam) and drive to Italy (an 18 hour drive) two or three times a year to fish for these big cats.

During the whole month of July I am working there as a (catfish) guide, so to all you yanks 😉 : why don't you fly to Milano? I will pick you up and after a two hour drive, you'll be fishing in Europe's most notorious catfish water!
This fish being the Texas state record is bull**** (excuse the language). I have never even been in the States and I very much doubt that this type of (cat)fish exist in the States. It's latin name is Silurus Glanis.
Hope this will clearify a lot of the nonsense told about this fish.
