when i was a kid, i actually watched my cousin do exactly that. i don't think it hurt him much, but it made a really loud popping noise and put a burn mark on the butter knife. he's the only cousin i have that is an admitted homosexual. i wonder if that had something to do with it. you know, i never even considered that until now.

Hmm. My cousin used car keys instead of a kinfe and got zapped a bit. He was quite young and was pretty shaken up. He just kept repeating "hot...hot...hot...hot".

My cousin did the same thing with a bobbypin. Same pop and a black mark on the socket.

Cousin Schousin! I did that with wet finger in an exposed socket. My father smacked me in the head for being so stupid. No after affects though. No after affects though. No after affects though. No after...er.... nerver mind.

My sisters did the same thing with a paper-clip. Lots of popping and a little screaming. I was about 6 at the time and I can still remember it..

I used a bobby pin and remember it burning my fingers pretty bad. It didn't affect my sexual orientation though. I am still staight.

Are you trying to say that he's basically spent his entire life putting things where they don't belong?

I have to admit I did it with my finger when I was about 4-5. ZAP!
Ran to my room and hid and wouldn't tell anyone what happened.

Feels good to finally get it off my chest.

Stupid adult:

I was replacing sockets in the kids' bathroom. I had the whole half of the house off and I already replaced one socket and a switch.

I went to work on the second socket and zzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZ! Lasted about 2 seconds until I could get the screwdriver off the screw. The whole right side of my body got it. After..it felt like the whole right side of my body went to the gym for several hours while the other side didn't. The muscle pain lasted a couple days...guess I got a good dose...

but I wasn't gay anymore afterwards.

Ahh yes, I recall the experience well. 1st time I was about the age of the lad in the picture. I was with my dad at a diner, he was paying the tab at the register, the neon light sign in the window was so pretty it caught my eye. This was the days before laws protecting the stupid from their own actions, and well, you all know that neon lights require stepped up volatge to operate. I remember that epiphany like it was yesterday.

Next I was 13, dad had bought a truck-stop/BBQ in his hometown of Jacksonville, Texas. The place had been in mothballs for quite awhile. I was in a large display refrigerator with a glass display front, washing years of gunk off, and yea, it was plugged in. I was drenched from dipping into the wash bucket, wiping with my rag, when the tip of the rag flips into an open light socket in the fridge. How well I remember that 1/8th of a second. You tend to recall that kind of intensity with crystal clarity.

Last big one was at the same place, but I was 15. The truck stop was open. Dad made me wash dishes on Saturday nights while the other teens laughed and gathered at the bowling alley; sneaking cigs and copping feels. Not me friend, I was washing the dishes of drunk truck drivers and dime store cowboys. Saturdays we closed at 1:00 am. While I slaved over the last two cubic yards of greasy BBQ plates, my dad asked me to 'hit the lights,' the parking lot circuit being conveniently located by the sink. I'm speeding, working like the possessed. I reach up and hit the switch. next thing I know I'm flying, I see the 12x4 ft. BBQ pit sliding by on the right. I land at my dad's feet by the grill. The flow of electrons allows one to feel internal parts of the body that normally go unoticed. It always had to do with my dad and a diner.

Never got it with the socket. Have several zaps from car batteries though. Reaching up under the dash to find out why my amps aren't receiving power and grab the loose power lead. Ouch.

I wish I'd done that...

One summer, while working on my uncle's cattle farm, I had to relieve myself...unknowingly I hit the electric fence - ZZZap.

Been zapped many times myself while doing home improvements (haven't pissed on a fence yet though so your one up on me Wolf).

Mostly due to laziness:
Agh! don't need to go down to the basement to flip the circuit breaker. I'tl only take a second to swap out this light fixtre. I is an enginear and I nogh how electrctie worx. Besides, the screwdrver handle is insulted.

Zing!. {Ough, that's a wake me up}. Try again, this time more carefull. Paazaap!.

No permanent damage until...

The four sounds I'll never forget. One last board to cut for the kitchen refinish job.

"Whirrrr" (sound of table saw starting up).
"Wheeauauau" (sound of board being ripped to size).
"Zing" (sound of board pinching blade and tip of thumb being sent across the room).
"mmmph" (sound of me with my partial thumb in mouth trying to tell my neighbor to drive me to the ER).

Now I can only count to 9-3/4 unless I take my shoes off.

My ex-father-in-law, ******, was a shop teacher. I sh*t you not. ****** had three fingers cut off on table saws and had each one sewn back on. You could see the scars, but you could barely tell. It was amazing. That's really the only thing I miss about my ex-wife, her dad. He was one great guy.

Was his name really ******, or is that for dramatic effect?
An old farmer I would work for in the summers would grab a fence to see if it was on (didn't phase him), you couldn't stand close to him or he would reach over and grab your arm and let you tell him if it was on or not. Then again this guy had Lime Vodka for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Richard (******) Malone. US Marine flew tail gunner in a Grumman TBF Avenger in WWII. Grew up on the Ohio river. Never had an agreement or fight with that man I didn't enjoy.
