Good lists. Based on what I've got in my car I'd have to go with:

1 Korn - Korn
2 Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic
3 Metallica - Black Album
4 Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magic
5 Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
6 Notorious BIG - Ready to Die
7 Guns N Roses - Appetite for Destruction
8 Metallica - Master of Puppets
9 Rage Against the Machine - self-titled
10 Weezer - Blue Album

I'd have gone with some greatest hits albums, but I guess that would kind of be cheating.

Amy Winehouse- Back to Black

David+David - Welcome To The Boomtown
==========================================

WHOA!! 80's FLASHBACK! Felt like I got smacked in the head when I read that in your list. Good album. I either have the cassette somewhere, or a recorded cassette of it that I "borrowed" from a friend who had the actual album/cassette. I wouldn't mind taking a listen to that again in digital format.

I was thinking the same thing about David+David...a whole bunch of promise and then dropped out of the limelight. Good stuff. Kinda surprising how many hardcore headbangers we got here. I disagree about there not being a perfect album. I remember when Bon Scott died and AC/DC was soldiering on and making a new album. Even in my youth (approx 12 yrs old) I thought Why? They can't come back...Look at Zeppelin...and then Back in Black came out....I remember the first time I heard it...it BLEW me away. To me, the "perfect album" captures lightening in a bottle. Listen to "Beggar's Banquet" It epitomizes why The Stones were the "most dangerous band in the world" at the time. This is a fun thread...keep em coming.

Perfect album = ritually listening from track 1 to the very end without skipping any songs.

many on my list have already been mentioned. I would add: Elvis Costello -- My Aim is True
Steely Dan -- Royal Scam
Ian Dury -- New Boots and Panties
