I got this weird feeling I should stop by a particular local today. His selection is getting pretty thin, and I was pretty sure he didn't have anything I was interested in. On the way out, I noticed in the middle of the humidor, a display with an open humidor with a huge (2ft?)perfecto, and a little tray of lonely singles. Well, I just had to look. Okay, MiCubano, noname something, who knows or other, Napa Reserve, cracked something. Hey, wait! Black band, with yellow trim (trembling now), hand made Canary Island, Woohoo! 13$ later, it's in the scanner (better be a good one). If hog hadn't posted the pic of the band, I never even would have caught it. I thought I had picked this shop clean before too. He claims he can find more, but I've heard that line so many times now, I'll believe it when I see it. It just goes to show, it pays to stick your head in unlikely places, and throw a hail Mary now and again.

I'm sure you will find a very pleasant smoke in this one you found.. let me know if it starts out a bit floral for you?? this was something that sparked me right off with the very last one I had and I didn't recall that in the previous one's I had smoked?? anyways if it does, hang on because your in for a real treat further into the cigar...

now about the 13$ ticket.. I'm sure this retailer is trying to locate more of these... there was a cigar shop I located them at years back in KC and I had said at that time they were running 8-12$ a stick... at that time I thought were pretty steep... with age I guess also goes costs but I would spend another 8-12 or even 13$ a stick on another one or two of these...

13$ is about the going rate for a good cigar in these parts. If it weren't for local taxes, it would have been about 5$. I mostly wanted it, because Slim has inspired me for years to look for them (with a couple of misses).

Man ... it looks a little (not too much thoght) worn, and I hope that it still has the 'special' flavor to it.

Did you only get one? I have only one left ... out of about 15 boxes (all the 4 sizes they made) for $300 a few years back.

A guy I know over at CF alerted me to them, said he worked part time at Mink's Beer and Wine, in Marietta, Georgia, and told me that their cigar rep was 'hanging it up' ... and wanted to liquidate the whole lot.

I called him, gave him my CC number, he boxed 'em up ... and sent them to me. The only bummer, is I had to pay Georgia sales tax on them ... LOL!

When I brought a handful of them into the place I worked at that time, my supervisor and a co-worker liked them so much, they offered me $80 each for a box. I couldn't pass it up ... so I ended up getting the 13 boxes I had left for around $140.

Of course ... I 'gifted' out to various folks here, and on a few other forums ... about 3 of those boxes, piecemeal.

That ... was the best cigar buy (and find) that I have ever made to this day.

i agree with redsquid about the prices in the greater puget sound metropolitan region ( ok, i like the way that sounds), i have paid less on maui for a padron than in downtown seattle, or not downtown redmond.

Charlie, fg's got it. Slim, there is a very small chip towards the foot, but is not bad. The scanner seems to distort and amplify any flaws, it does make it easy for quick reference though. And unfortunately there was only the one. You never know where things will pop up. In D.C. the other day, I came across an original blend PEGCC lonsdale amongst a bunch of current blend.
