Here is the man who got me started on cigars. Its my dad, he was big into Blackpowder shoots and hand crafted some Very, Very, nice rifles, all by hand. He would take me into the local B&M when I was a kid. I loved the smell of all the cigars. That particular local just closed the other day because Lincoln passed a no smoking law in every public building, so he decided to close. Its really sad, even though I didn't frequent it often (went to one closer to my house) it brought back alot of memmories of dad when I heard of its demise. The original owner had passed away along time ago but he always would remember my name every time dad would take me there, even years later when I went in by myself he new who I was.

Thats cool JD... did you also pick up on the black powder shooting? My wifes son's have a friend who makes black powder guns and also goes to matches...

Lincoln? I'm thinking Nebraska? how far is that from souix city SD/IA? there was a gas station/walk in Humidor just at the boarder of these 3 states located in SD though... the man loved his cigars and from 1996 to 1998 I know his store was still up and running? it was mainly a gas station quick mart with a large part of the store closed off as in glass for his walk-in...

Too bad about the Lincoln smoking ban. Like I said, I was at Zoo Bar on the 31st, and we had to smoke what we had by midnight. Was interesting.

Lincoln is quit a ways aways from Soux City, its on the northern border and we are on the south eastern tip of the state.

No dad never ate quiche that I ever saw or heard about, LOL, he was a meat and potatos kind of guy. I went to all the blackpowder shoots with him as a child and then into teenage years. Whne he got sick and stopped going, I stopped as well and never got back into it.

Thanks for the comments on the pic, it was done by an amature phtotgrapher who wanted to "capture the ruggedness".

P.S. Mom knitted the hat he is wearing, for a Christmas present for him one year.

Great pic of your dad. I put together a few blackpowder guns myself but haven't been shooting now for several years. Going to powwows and rendezvous are fun even if you don't participate; the atmosphere is just something to soak in.

I loved the rendezvous, they were alot of fun. Always met good people and had tons of fun. I'll have to email ya some pics of the rifles dad built. One is a flintlock and another is a Kentucky long rifle, both have matching pistols. He used top grade curly maple and was a true craftsman when it came to brass inlays and reworking the lock mechanism to his liking.

My dad loved that series, he was a mountian man, or at least wanted to be. I was almost named after a Jeremia (sp) Johnson, the old fur trapper.

tough to be a mountain man in nebraska, i'm assuming.

At least we live in the part with hills and trees, but go west of Lincoln and its nothing but flat and corn.
