Looking for opinions on good reasonably priced but good cigar lighters. Merchandise auction has so many I don't know which to bid on.

For reasonable prices, try the Techno line. Not pretty but functional. Of course, Prometheus and Colibri are two of the best and you may be able to pick one up at much less than retail on the site. Personally, I can't justify spending more than $10.00 on a lighter.

buy the cheap throw away lighters that don't refill. fire is fire. just don't use any lighter that uses lighter fluid. cigar matches are cool for lighting a special cigar, especially in public.

I have several Zippos and a Prometheus! I prefer to use old fashioned matches! The stick kind and I let the sulpher burn off and then light my cigar! With a handle like "redneck", I would think you would prefer matches also! Charlie

Wow, now I know how Rick feels (my fingers don't work). Charlie does that mean that you assume by my handle that I rub two sticks together? I agree with Rickmaven that Bic or equal is best. I was a Zippo man for 30 plus years with cigs and have put them away. Steve (Hope I can type better in the future)

Good one Char, I use 'Redneck' for my handle mostly to bid with. (Can see I will need to change it if I'm going to spend any time on these boards! lol!!) The reason of my interest in lighters is because I smoke mostly outside and the wind almost always blows here Kansas. Matches and Bic lighters just don't work that well and like Rick I won't use a Zippo because of the fuel.

Matches don't work in the Texas wind either. I have a couple of Bowman dual flame lighters I got on CBid that work well in the wind. Should be able to get these way under $10. The arrow flame always lights and stays lit, but burns a lot of butane.

Most of cheap lighters I have tried just do't last. i currently use a zippo i paid 25 bucks for that is going on 4 months. so far so good. And that is into a head wind. I smoke in the garage and the chicago winter winds are brutal. Spend a little, get more.

I have Colibri's, Prometheus', Solo's, and "el cheapo's". The best is basically all of them. If you get a refillable butane lighter..........please always use Vector fuel. It is the best hands down and does not clog the lighter's jets. I used Colibri fuel and it was the worst crap I ever used. I even think I have seen Vector fuel auctioned here at CB!

After watching the HBO series Band of Brothers (about WWII), I figured the old Zippo is just fine, lighter fluid and all. I find the Colibri to be crap. Most of my cheapo butane lighters end up in the garbage, and living in Texas, I can't find a match that stays lit. Of course a good fire in the backyard lights a cigar good too!

1. Zippo lighter fluid will absolutely ruin a cigar 2. Torch lighters that burn butane are the way to go. 2. I use a Colibri ($30 retail cost) and generic butane and it works just fine...I just need to make sure I bleed it (empty it completely) every time before refilling it, so it won't gum up....Hope this helps

I got a Trifecta for Christmas ... hands down the best lighter I've ever used. It ues a lot of fuel, but it does have an extra large tank.

With it's triple jets, a cigar is lit in seconds ... and it looks good!
