Here are some of what I sip with my cigars to unwind. Booker's goes well with a strong cigar like Oliva 'O' bold. Knob Creek for the medium bodied and the Wild Turkey Rare Breed for just about any cigar. I have found that sometimes, even a dog rocket can become acceptable with the proper pairing.

I have always been a fan of Knob Creek, and some Bookers is also pretty good now and then. Never had the Rare Breed. What does it taste like?

Another favorite of mine is Basil Hayden.

One that I have heard good things about but have not tried yet is Buffalo Trace. Not too expensive, but supposed to be one of the best.

the knob is good. never pulled the trigger on that wild turkey - something about their flagship line of bourbons that has turned me off from all of their products...but maybe its worth it.

i've been drinking evan williams single barrel. very tasty.

you ought to try the wild turkey 101. rated 92 by Wine Enthusiast. my favorite sipping spirit is going to have to be the bacardi 8 year aged which i would put up against any bottle twice it's price.

I add Bookers to my gas tank when I'm looking to boost the octane.

I love the Booker's.
1st tasted it at Jim Beam near Louisville, when visiting there.

Another couple to add to the list are Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel and Pappy Van Winkle 15 y/o. I have found both of them to be outstanding.

I have a bottle of the Pappy van Winkle 20 y/o at the house right now. I honestly can not tell too much of a difference between the 15 and 20 y/o version other than a little more wood in the 20 y/o. Both are exceptional, but for the $80.00 difference in the bottle prices I much prefer the younger one.

Yes it is the indulgence. I just got it the other day. My Havana foot locker was full as was my westminster. This place already has me eyeing the Emporer, but I think I'll opt for the old refridgerator and convert it. As for a lot of the other bourbons mentioned. The vanwinkle tends to be a little to rye tasting for my taste buds, but then again maybe I haven't paired it up proper yet.

I usually go for the Woodford Reserve.

Knob Creek is my favorite.

Lrrjr - I thought it was just me, but I have found that bourbons/whiskeys that have a higher rye content have been harder to match with a cigar as well. In fact, I have a bottle of Jim Beam Rye that I have yet to smoke anything with that has been able to be paired well with it. In my opinion I find that the more corn based whiskeys (i.e. Bourbon) seem to lend better to cigars.

Woodford Reserve, 1792 Ridgemount Reserve, Basil Haydens: Three of the best Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys.(IMHO.) (In no particular order.) I am currently sipping on some Basil Haydens. A very smooth and mild bourbon. (Probably due to the proof. 40% alcohol or 80 proof) The Ridgemount Reserve also is a very tasty bourbon with more bite @ 93.7 proof. Woodford Reserve is my classic. The first bourbon that I ever drank straight up and enjoyed. With any of these three you can't go wrong. Nothing finer than partaking of a good cigar and fine bourbon. It is certainly not a bad thing living in the state of origin of these fine bourbons either. I used to drink a lot of Wild Turkey 101. I don't know why but the hangovers started killing me! (Probably a combination of proof, the amount I used to drink, and middle age creeping up on me!) LOL! Any way, sorry to ramble....Later....Erik
