Whoever mounted that did a beautiful job, Calavera! You don't see that pose often.....that second before the thunder of the wings.. and the sound of your heart beating about 1000 bps!
My favorite hunting. Thanks for sharing!

I've never mounted a pheasant, it's on my list though.

What Bladerunner said.
Excellent pose, and a nice bird. Nice long tail feathers.

Very nice coloration,

Its funny the few times that Ive had the chance to get a few I shot them in my front yard on the way to a hunt. Our family previously owned a 300 acre farm in PA, if you caught it at the right time we would have pheasant, quail, turkey scratching around the front yard.

Chris, although Russ may be old enough to be Ward Cleaver, I know he robbed the cradle when he married you. You are a young and beautiful women.

Barry,

Sorry to make you feel bad. It was all in fun.

As far as the Pheasant, I think it is really outstanding. I love to pheasant hunt. My family and I always went to a controlled area to hunt. We killed many birds off our britney. Unfortunately, we lost her to rocky mountain spotted fever. Not had a comparable bird dog like her since then. This brings back a lot of great memories.

Chris, you didn't make me feel bad. I was trying to make you feel good while taking a shot at Russ. 🙂

The spurs are about 3/4 inch long from leg to tip. If you include the leg (like some people say to do) they are approaching 1 1/4 inches. Long and curved and sharp.

Took this one over my german shorthair. It, and a bird almost as big, were in a little patch of brush. They both came home.

We are blessed with good pheasant hunting here. Not as good as South Dakota, but not bad.

Turkeys are good here, but no quail. From what I've seen, I am glad there are no quail because all I would do is miss them.

Don't consider Mrs. Hog's compliment as much - think of what she has to compare it to!

Couldn't resist!
