It's a good thing that you don't live in the US...

It's a shame that we can't buy Cuban Cigars here... :o(

hey, just throwing in the vast knowledge of cuban cigars that I know.
I have heard of versacorp.
Can you tell me your email , dont know where I know that name from but it is very familiar. One way is to put the cuban dollar seal under a blacklight. If nothing then you deffinately have fakes

I didn't pay it much attention until it was said... but that seal is very green. And the deal with the crease... that's for real too...

...It's hard to say what a "reliable" source is... especially sence there are reliable sources who aren't aware that they have unreliable dealers. There was a store owner not to long ago that delt ISOM's and was a very honest person, unaware that all he had was fakes.

The only one who knows if these cigars are fakes is the Dominican girl that rolled them.

cmuzz:

I have visited the site you referred me to, and here are my observations....

1.) The green ink on the seal matches the NEW seal, and not the OLD. I apologize for my 2.1 pix digital camera using low compression in order to be able to post the pics on CBid. Also, as I stated, I apologized for the poor lighting.

2.) The printing is very crisp, not at all resembling the sample of the OLD seal.

3.) The seal has FIVE workers, and TWELVE palm trees, as referred to on the NEW seal.

4.) The wording on the top of the seal says ORIGIN NATIONAL WARRANTY SEAL FOR CIGARS AND CUT TOBACCO as referred to on the NEW seal.

5.) The French wording is SCEAU DE GARANTIE D'ORIGINE NATIONALE POUR LES CIGARES ET LE SCAFERLATI as referred to on the NEW seal.

6.) The German wording is ORIGINAL GARANTIESIEGEL FUER ZIGARREN UND GERISSENE TABAKBLAETTER, as referred to on the NEW seal.

7.) Under a magnifying glass I can make out some writing in the border designs of the seal. Unfortunately, I do not have access to a 14X Jewelers Loop, so I cannot makeout definitely what it says.

8.) I can see micro-printing above REPUBLICA DE CUBA and under LEY DE JULIO 19/1912, but again, with the magnifying glass I have, I can't distinguish what it says.

9.) I DO have the NEW red serial number printed on the bottom over a white background, and under a blacklight, the CUBAN REPUBLIC COAT OF ARMS is clearly visible, although it is in yellow and not pink, and the two letters of the serial number do not light up with the coat of arms watermark.

As to your remarks about the seam of the shrink wrap not passing THROUGH the center of the coat of arms? It does, the angle of the picture is just deceiving. And again, it does look a little green in my post, but that is do simply to poor lighting and a 2.1 megapixel camera under low compression.

Other then the water mark being YELLOW, and the letters of the serial number not lighting up under a blacklight, the seal on this box appears to be authentic.

I appreciate you directing me to that website.

Michael
