This is the bird that was in the cage next to my desk that you asked about. He is a Lilac Crown Amazon Parrot. His name is Polo. He is 35yrs old. He could live to 80yrs old.

My wife and I have had him more than 10 years. We got him from a very old lady going into a rest home. Birds arent allowed there.

When he spreads his wings he has beautiful red and blue feathers. The Lilac crown means that his forehead is Lilac in color. He is in his outdoor big cage, which I built. Sometime I'll show a full pic of that too. It's a cool portable cage.

i am here and i like the bird. i am familiar with amazon's, i used to have a nape that would either kiss me or bite my lip depending upon his mood.

he bonded first with my blue and gold, and then with the grey when i moved him to a different room. i finally put im in a breeding colony because that is what he wanted and i was told by the breeder he is a perfect husband.

let's see the picture of the entire outdoor cage you built. it looks like you made it out of galvanized 1 X 1.

i did something similar when i was raising pigeons. the coop was in the garage and i had an opening for them get to so they could bathe and sit in the sun.

we had frills, fan tails and a pair of nuns.

i raised a pair of squabs when their parents abandoned them and hand fed them just like you hand feed a parrot.

I'm glad you like Polo. The cage does have galvanized screen around it. But its probably 1/2inch holes. I'll post a full view of it for you. The frame I soldered together from copper pipe and copper fittings for plumbing. It also has wheels on one end and a swivel handle on the other end so you can pull it around wherever you want.
