This is a photo of my late grandfather, we all called him POP
He had a great infulance on me when I was younger. I love to fly and work on plane, he could fix anything.
He and my grandmother left Kansas and came to Virginia during the depression. He got a job with the CCC welding. Later he got a job as a civilan working for the navy teaching welding at the Norfolk navy base. Then he went to work for Grumman on the F14 Tomcat
( hence I joined the navy and I worked on the F14 Tomcats also)
Pop open his on Aircraft salvage and repair business, after my time in the navy,I helped him in his business.
My grandfather passed away 2 years ago this comming May.
He was one of the kindest people I ever knew and yes I do miss him...

when those people leave us, they leave a hole. that hole is never refilled. we always feel an empty spot that reminds of us who was once there. sorry for your loss.

You are lucky man to have shared those times with your grandfather. You have his eyes.

Thanks for sharing that story. Made me think of my Pop, and just how much I miss him as well. I never knew a man who was more passionate about good food, John Daniels whiskey, and Frank Sinatra.

You young guys take note. Time just moves to fast. It seems like just a few years ago I could have been the young guy in that picture. Now I have three little ones calling me Grandpa. Make sure you intentionally build some great memories and get plenty of pics; you'll really be glad you did.

Dang!!!! I'm sounding like an old fart. LOL

Jimmy, I lost my grandfather 2 years ago this January. It was the hardest thing I ever experienced in my life, I miss him so much but somehow I know he watches me and is very proud. I can say the same about your grandfather. There were only a few good men left on this earth and my "nanu" was one of them. Thanks for your post, it made me remember some really great memories of him!!
