This is a weird one, but I thought I would try it here.

I am looking for 1,000 peso coins. Old pesos, not new pesos. The Mexican coins I will trade for were discontinued when the peso was revalued about 15 years ago. One thousand old pesos became one new peso, so the coins are now worth about ten cents US.

The coins are brass colored, about the size of a silver dollar, with Juana de Asbaje (sp?) on the face and a large bird(?) on the reverse.

There is no collector value for the coins but they have a sentimental value to me as a reminder - in my pocket - of a better time, a trip to Mexico, and a loved one, now departed. I have, unfortunately, recently lost the original one I have carried for over two decades.

If anyone has any of these coins tossed in a drawer - any year, any condition - I will gladly swap some nice sticks for them.

I'll look around...I have some things from Mexico. I know I have an Olympic Coin from the Mexico City games. Can't remember what else was in the box...now somewhere in the garage.

I'll look also, my grandma just gave me a bunch of old coins, some of which were from Mexico.

Those coins are probably too old. The ones I am looking for seem to be 80s to 1990 or so. The one I had was a 1989.

hey kazama are you sure it's a 1000 peso? my friend is hispanic and said they didn't think it was a 1000 she has a 10 that was in 82 and a 200 that was in 86. she is going to check with her brother tho to see if she can find something bro.

Positive. It says "$1000" right on the face. Look for Juana de Asbaje, too. About the size of an old US dollar coin, but brass colored. Those other coins are smaller.

The ones I have are to old. The coins I have are from the 60's. Sorry I couldn't help ya.

I don't have any, but there is a coin shop in town that has all sorts of odd and rare coins. I will stop by there and see what I can find for you.
